Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud is a memory foam mattress made in the US. Offering TEMPUR® foam, average motion isolation, and a medium level of firmness, the entry-level TEMPUR-Cloud sells for $2,799 for a queen size.
Memory foam is known for heat trapping, so you might expect a mattress at this price point to offer advanced cooling features. However, TEMPUR-Cloud has only a temperature-regulating cover to balance out possible overheating—which may not be enough.
In comparison, competing memory foam mattress Octave Vista is designed with a cooling nanofibre cover, copper-infused memory foam, and phase-change material for advanced temperature regulation so you can enjoy a restorative sleep. It’s also available for a much lower price at just $899 for a queen size.
Looking for a quality memory foam mattress at a lower price point? You should meet Octave.

TEMPUR-Cloud contains 3 layers of foam. According to the chat feature on their website, Tempur-Pedic doesn’t publicly share the layer measurements or foam densities of their mattresses.
TEMPUR-Cloud’s cover isn’t machine-washable and can’t be removed. This could be partly because TEMPUR-Cloud contains 23% “glass fiber” (fiberglass) in its internal fire sock netting. (We safely removed the cover for the purposes of this review but don’t recommend doing the same at home.) Instead of removing the cover, spot-clean the mattress carefully when it gets dirty.
This top cover is a polyester and spandex blend. Tempur-Pedic says the material is breathable and moisture-wicking. However, it’s not clear how the top cover could possibly provide enough cooling. Polyester isn’t naturally breathable and can trap heat. Spandex also doesn’t have cooling properties and can reduce the breathability of other fabrics.
It’s possible that Tempur-Pedic could have engineered the mattress cover to provide cooling features through the right combination of fabric structure, moisture management, and added cooling technologies. But since the company hasn’t shared any such information, this may not be the case.
With the top cover being TEMPUR-Cloud’s only apparent cooling feature, it’s unlikely that the mattress cover is cool enough to offset the heat-trapping properties of memory foam.
Choose Octave and get a mattress with a removable, machine-washable cover.

Founded in 1992, Tempur-Pedic was originally contracted to develop a material to cushion aircraft seats for NASA. Since then, Tempur-Pedic has emerged as one of North America’s most well-known mattress brands and is considered the gold standard in foam mattresses. In 2012, Tempur-Pedic merged with the Sealy Corporation to become the world’s largest bedding company.
Despite the company’s prestige, it holds a “Bad” rating on Trustpilot and is rated “B” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau. Tempur Sealy International only has a 1/5 star rating for BBB customer reviews. When this TempurPedic mattress review was written, over 700 complaints had been filed in recent years. Many reviews expressed concerns about return, warranty, and customer service issues.

The Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud mattress is manufactured in the United States.
The TEMPUR-Cloud warranty provides 10 years of coverage, which suggests this may be the lifespan of the mattress. Depending on your weight and sleep style, your TEMPUR-Cloud’s lifespan could vary.
TEMPUR-Cloud is $2,799 for a queen TempurPedic mattress. This Tempur-Pedic mattress price is considerably higher than competing memory foam mattresses like Octave Vista, which is just $899 for a queen size.
TEMPUR-Cloud comes with a 10-year full replacement limited warranty. Although Tempur-Pedic offers a replacement mattress, you’re responsible for paying any transportation costs that are required for repairs or replacements.
While not all Tempur-Pedic mattresses contain fiberglass, the TEMPUR-Cloud we reviewed contains 23% “glass fiber” (fiberglass) in its fire sock. This is a type of netting wrapped around the mattress’s internal layers to meet the USA’s fire safety restrictions. Fiberglass can represent a health hazard if it leaks out of the mattress, so it’s better to avoid mattresses made with this material.

Interested in a memory foam mattress but don’t want to pay the high price tag that comes with a Tempur Pedic mattress? We recommend Octave Vista. This good Tempur-Pedic alternative is a medium-firm memory foam mattress ideal for all sleep styles.
Octave earned top scores for its advanced cooling features, including a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre cover, copper-infused memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material for temperature balance, and multi-zone support foam with air channels for breathability and temperature control. Upgraded Octave mattresses Mirage and Horizon offer more features for an even cooler night’s sleep.
Octave Vista is priced at just $899 for a queen size, compared to the much higher Tempur-Pedic mattress price of $2,799 for a queen-size TEMPUR-Cloud. This makes Octave an excellent choice not just for high-quality sleep, but for your wallet, too.
