Popular Tempur-Pedic Mattresses

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are widely available to Canadians through approved third-party retailers like Sleep Country, Costco, Leon’s, and the Brick, among other smaller or local mattress vendors. Depending on where you buy your Tempur-Pedic, any applicable policies (like the mattress’s sleep trial and return policies) will vary.

Despite Tempur-Pedic’s longstanding reputation and its parent company’s continued growth, the company’s online ratings are relatively low. Tempur-Sealy is rated “B” (unaccredited) on BBB but has a customer review rating of 1/5 stars. The company is also rated “Bad” on Trustpilot, with customers mentioning difficulties getting the company to honour their warranty.

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are also priced higher than average, compared to other memory foam mattresses with similar features. The most affordable Tempur-Pedic mattress we have tested started at $2,299 for a twin size. More advanced models cost $4,999 or more for a queen size. This may not be affordable for every mattress shopper. In comparison, competitor brands like Octave offer memory foam mattresses starting at $599.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses good?

Tempur-Pedic is a very well-known and popular mattress brand. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the Tempur-Pedic mattresses we’ve reviewed have tested well for edge support but below average for motion isolation. Cooling feature scores were also lower than average.

If you’re looking for a memory foam mattress with higher-than-average motion isolation and temperature regulation, you may prefer Octave. Designed to promote restful sleep, spinal alignment, and overnight recovery, Octave comes with ergonomically zoned support foam and copper-infused memory foam. You also get a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle, all starting at just $599.

Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses worth it?
Where can you buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are available for purchase online and in-store at a wide variety of retailers, including Sleep Country, Costco, and The Brick, as well as smaller, independent mattress stores. Tempur-Pedic even has showrooms in select American cities.

How long does a Tempur-Pedic mattress last?

Most Tempur-Pedic mattresses are backed by a 10-year limited warranty. The warranty requires your mattress to be placed on a “firm, solid-surface, non-spring foundation or adjustable base that is structurally capable of supporting the weight of the purchaser’s Tempur-Pedic mattress and user(s),” according to the company’s warranty.

With proper care, your mattress should last 7–10 years on average. Tempur-Pedic also recommends protecting your mattress with a mattress protector during usage, as any stains will void the mattress’s warranty.

Do you need to rotate a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

According to Tempur-Pedic’s website, their mattresses do not need to be rotated due to their design. Rotating a mattress 180 degrees is typically considered good practice to ensure even break-in and wear on a mattress, but you aren’t required to do so with your Tempur-Pedic.

Can a Tempur-Pedic mattress be flipped?

No, you shouldn’t flip your Tempur-Pedic mattress. Like most modern mattresses, Tempur-Pedic mattresses are only designed for one-sided use, with the comfort layer positioned on top. Flipping it would place the supportive base on top instead and the comfort layer (which is designed for you to lie on top of) at the bottom.

Do Tempur-Pedic mattresses have fiberglass?

Some Tempur-Pedic mattresses are known to contain fiberglass, like the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress we purchased in 2023. According to the mattress’s law label, its internal fire sock was composed of 23% “glass fibre.” This mattress is no longer available in Canada.

We recommend always reading the law label of your Tempur-Pedic mattress and ensuring the cover is safely removable before doing so.
