Product Details
Loft 8’s product page on the Structube website doesn’t say how firm the mattress is supposed to be. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), it falls under the medium-firm category. The mattress has excellent edge support and above-average motion isolation.
Structube Loft 8 stands 8″ tall and has 4 foam layers, including an odour-absorbing layer of charcoal foam. The company claims this foam is engineered using the same principles as charcoal air filters. Loft 8 also has a layer of cooling gel-infused foam.
The mattress has a quilted all-fabric cover with an anti-skid base. The cover has a zipper, but Structube’s website doesn’t indicate whether it’s machine washable. We recommend that you spot-clean stains and spills, just to be safe.
It’s important to note that Loft 8’s twin and full-size mattresses are listed as being 1″ wider than standard size. While this is inside the margin of error for mattress manufacturing, be aware that your bed sheets might not fit the mattress properly.
The mattress we received arrived with a free sleep mask. This is a nice touch, but it falls short of the bundles offered by other brands. For example, Juno comes with a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s).

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Structube delivers its own products to customers and offers two delivery options: in-store pickup and doorstep delivery. If you opt for in-store pickup, it may take up to 14 business days for your order to arrive at your selected store location. It’s important to note that Structube does not provide assistance with carrying your mattress out of the store or loading it into your vehicle.
The company’s shipping policy doesn’t specify a timeframe for home delivery. The website only mentions that it can take up to 14 business days for the order to arrive at their transporter’s facility, after which the transporter will schedule the delivery. There isn’t any additional information about how long it’ll take for the transporter to actually deliver the mattress.
Doorstep delivery is free in most major cities for orders over $299. However, you’ll have to pay an additional fee if you live outside the free delivery zone. Structube’s website doesn’t say how large this free delivery zone is.
Structube says orders outside Quebec and Ontario may take up to 14 business days to be delivered. (For reference, Loft 8 arrived 14 business days after we ordered it.) Your mattress will be delivered to your doorstep during a non-negotiable 4-hour window.
For an extra $50, you can upgrade doorstep delivery to “room of choice” delivery. Structube doesn’t say whether this service also includes unpacking and unrolling the mattress. Your old mattress will not be removed, so you’ll have to dispose of it yourself.
The mattress arrives wrapped in a plastic sheet and rolled up in a red plastic-and-canvas bag. While the included pamphlet said expansion would take several hours, the mattress we received took much longer to reach its full height.
Structube Loft 8 has no sleep trial. You have only a 7-day return period to determine whether or not you wish to keep the mattress. You can only return the mattress if it’s still in its original packaging. Once your unused Structube mattress has been returned, the company will give you a refund. However, refunds aren’t processed in-store, so you’ll have to wait to get your money back. It’s not clear how returns work if you live in a city without a Structube store.
Structube offers a 1-year warranty on its products, including mattresses. This is the shortest warranty of any mattress we have reviewed.
Overall, Structube Loft 8 falls short on value when it comes to delivery, sleep trial, and returns. In comparison, budget mattress brand Juno offers free shipping to all major metro areas in Canada in 2–10 business days. Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial so you can try it at home, along with a 15-year warranty. You also get a free bedding bundle with your purchase.

Structube Mattress Construction
Structube Loft 8 is 8″ tall and has 4 foam layers.
- Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 1″ gel-infused memory foam. This layer provides cushioning so you don’t feel the layers beneath, and its cooling gel wicks heat away from your body.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ charcoal foam. This foam, which uses the same engineering principles as charcoal air filters, adds support and is advertised to help manage odours.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 2″ convoluted foam, a type of foam that has a peak-and-valley structure. This creates air channels to wick heat and odours away from your bed.
- Layer 4: The bottom (support) layer is 4″ unspecified high-density foam. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk and prevents you from sinking too deeply into the mattress layers.
The mattress cover on Structube Loft 8 is designed to be breathable, anti-microbial, and anti-mite. However, Structube doesn’t specify how or why the cover does so. The cover also has a zipper, but the company doesn’t say whether the mattress cover is machine washable or not. We recommend spot-cleaning only to be safe.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
5.7 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Structube Loft 8 had a 3″ deflection when laid on, contributing to its 5.7/10 firmness score. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category. Loft 8 should provide a balance between comfort and support that works with most sleep styles.
Prefer a slightly firmer feel in your mattress? You’ll get it with Juno’s firmness score of 6.0/10.
8.3 /10
Edge Support
Structube Loft 8 had a 3.8″ deflection from a seated position, earning it an edge support score of 8.3/10. This is an excellent score for a foam mattress. You’ll be able to sit on the edge of this mattress with no issues. You also won’t need to worry about falling off the bed if you sleep closer to the edge.
6.1 /10
Motion Isolation
Structube Loft 8 scored 6.1/10 for motion isolation, which is above average for a foam mattress. You may notice some of your partner’s bigger movements while you’re sleeping, but you likely won’t be disturbed by smaller movements.
3.3 /10
Bounce
Foam mattresses typically perform below average for bounce. Structube Loft 8 is no different with a bounce score of 3.3/10. This is ideal if you prefer a more consistent sleep surface. That said, you may find it a little more difficult to change sleep positions.
2.2 /10
Cooling Features
Structube Loft 8 is marketed more as a budget mattress than a cooling mattress, but it does have a few features you might appreciate if you tend to sleep hot. This mattress gets points for:
- Cooling gel in its comfort layer, which enhances heat dissipation and airflow
- Its convoluted foam layer, which makes the mattress more breathable
If you’re looking for enhanced cooling at a lower price, consider Juno instead. Juno has a layer of cooling gel foam that reduces heat buildup, allowing for improved airflow. You can also get the optional cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn to keep surface temperatures low.

Company Background
Structube is a furniture retailer based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1974, the company’s name comes from the French term “structures tubulaires,” which translates to “tubular structures.” Its first store opened in 1980. The company has since spread across Canada.
In 2021, Structube received criticism after giving common Arab names to two of its trash can models. The company renamed those products and issued an apology shortly afterward.
Although the company is rated “A-” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau, its customer rating is only 1.2/5 stars. Structube is also rated “Bad” on Trustpilot based on over 1,100 reviews. Many customers have complained of issues with the company’s service, delivery, product quality, and returns. One customer even complained of bed bugs in their new mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Structube mattresses good?
Brand-new Structube mattresses seem to be reasonably good quality. That said, they don’t come with a sleep trial. You can’t return a Structube mattress if it’s been used, or even removed from its original packaging. According to multiple customer reviews, Structube’s mattresses and beds may not even last until the end of the 1-year warranty period.
In comparison, budget foam mattress Juno offers a generous 120-night sleep trial, easy returns with a full refund, a free bedding bundle, and a 15-year product warranty. Juno also has more than 4,000 five-star ratings on its website. This provides much more value and a worry-free purchasing experience, all for a lower price of $499 for a queen size (compared to $629 for Structube Loft 8).
How long does a Structube mattress last?
You can generally guess the lifespan of a mattress by looking at its warranty period. Structube has only a 1-year warranty for all of its products—much shorter than the 10-year warranty offered by most mattress manufacturers. And multiple customer reviews indicate that Structube’s furniture may not even last until the end of the warranty period.
Are Structube mattresses delivered in a box?
No, Structube mattresses aren’t delivered in a box. Structube ships mattresses rolled in a bag made of plastic and canvas. The mattress must be removed from the bag, unrolled, and allowed to expand once it has been delivered.
How do I return a Structube mattress?
You can return a Structube mattress within N/A days of purchase, but only if it hasn’t been removed from the bag or used in any way. If you purchased your mattress at one of Structube’s stores, you can return the mattress yourself. Returns for online orders must be made using a toll-free phone number. Structube will arrange pickup service if it’s available in your area, but you’ll be charged a $69 fee.
What Structube mattress alternatives should I consider?
Looking for a good-quality mattress on a budget? We recommend Juno. At just $499 for a queen size, Juno offers great value for its price, giving you a risk-free 120-night sleep trial, hassle-free returns, and a 15-year warranty. You’ll also get a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s).
