Product Details
Spa Sensations by Zinus is an 8″ innerspring mattress with a firm feel. It has good edge support and motion isolation, along with the highest bounce rating of any mattress we’ve tested to date. The mattress is designed without any cooling features, but it has a small amount of breathability due to the inner coils.
The mattress cover is made of 100% polyester, and isn’t removable or machine washable. The cover material is thin and there’s no padding (except on the corners) to keep the springs from poking through.
In fact, the mattress we received for this review arrived with the end of an innerspring sticking out of the bottom fabric, which injured one of our reviewers while handling it. The mattress cover’s low quality is concerning, given Zinus’s known history of fiberglass use in mattress construction.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Zinus doesn’t ship directly from its website to Canadian customers. If you’re buying a Spa Sensations mattress, you’ll have to do it through one of Zinus’s authorized third-party retailers. As of publication, Spa Sensations by Zinus is only available via Walmart. Shipping takes 1–3 business days and is free to most locations in Canada for orders over $35.
Zinus also doesn’t offer a direct sleep trial for its mattresses to its Canadian customers, so your sleep trial will vary depending on the retailer you buy from. Walmart also doesn’t accept mattress returns for Marketplace items on behalf of Zinus. Returns are facilitated through Walmart’s website, but it’s up to you to deal with the manufacturer. Zinus’s refund policy for Marketplace items is unknown.
The brand offers a 10-year limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects only. The warranty is considered void if the mattress isn’t used with the correct foundation, or if it’s “altered, [its] outer cover and/or mattress tags are removed or if it is improperly used.”
In comparison, competing budget mattress brand Juno provides a 15-year warranty, as well as a 120-night sleep trial and the option to return the mattress for a full refund.
Get Juno and enjoy a 120-night sleep trial with a 15-year warranty.

Spa Sensations by Zinus Mattress Construction
Spa Sensations by Zinus stands 8″ tall and has 3 visible interior layers of foam and coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 3/4″ of conforming viscoelastic latex foam. This layer adds plushness to the mattress’s top surface and conforms to your body while you’re lying down.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ of high-density foam. This insulates your body from feeling the coil layer below.
- Layer 3: The bottom layer is 6″ of metal coils. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and prevents you from sinking too deeply into the mattress while lying down.
The mattress cover is sewn with a jacquard pattern, contains foam filling, and accounts for the remaining 0.5″ of the mattress’s height. It’s made from 100% polyester, and it isn’t removable or machine washable. Any spills or stains should be spot-cleaned only.
Sleep cool on a budget when you choose Juno with its cooling gel foam layer.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
7.0 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Spa Sensations by Zinus had a 2.5″ deflection when laid on, resulting in a 7.0/10 firmness score.
This places it in the firm category, which is firmer than the description of the mattress purchased for this review. You’ll find this mattress supportive, but it may be uncomfortable if you sleep on your side, or if you have back pain or joint problems.
(If you’re a side sleeper looking for a new bed on a budget, consider Juno with its firmness score of 6.0/10. This translates to a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles.)
8.0 /10
Edge Support
In third-party engineer testing, Spa Sensations by Zinus had a 4.1″ deflection from a seated position, contributing to its 8.0/10 edge support score. This is an excellent score and is because of the metal inner coils. You’ll be able to sit on the edge of this mattress with no issues, and you won’t need to worry about falling off the bed if you sleep closer to the edge.
7.1 /10
Motion Isolation
In third-party engineer testing, Spa Sensations by Zinus scored 7.1/10 for motion isolation. This is a good rating, which is surprising for an innerspring mattress with this much bounce.
In the video above, notice how the far edges of the mattress don’t move much when the medicine ball drops, even though the water is splashing out of the glass. This shows how you’ll feel your partner sitting down heavily on the mattress. But smaller movements—or movements that are far away—should be less noticeable.
10 /10
Bounce
In third-party testing, Spa Sensations by Zinus scored 10/10 for bounce—the highest score of any mattress we’ve ever tested. This mattress will definitely help you spring to your feet when you get up in the morning, but you might find it too bouncy to sleep comfortably.
(Looking for a mattress that won’t catapult you out of bed? With a bounce score of 2.5/10, Juno gives you a consistent sleep surface for a more restful sleep.)
0.6 /10
Cooling Features
Spa Sensations by Zinus is marketed as a budget mattress rather than a cooling mattress. However, it does have a couple of minor features that might provide a small amount of cooling. This mattress gains points for its:
- Innerspring construction, which permits some airflow through the coils
- Top layer of conforming viscoelastic latex foam to allow for some breathability
Shopping on a budget shouldn’t mean that you sleep hot. If you’re looking for an affordable mattress with cooling features, check out Juno instead. Juno has a layer of cooling gel foam to reduce heat buildup and improve airflow. You can also upgrade to the optional cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn for added comfort.

Company Background
Zinus is a South Korea–based company founded in 1979 by Youn Jae Lee. According to the company’s website, it began as a tent manufacturer before expanding into mattresses. The company maintains an “D-” (unaccredited) rating on Better Business Bureau. At the time of writing, Zinus has a “Bad” rating on Trustpilot with 1.6/5 stars, based on 66 reviews. 79% of those ratings are 1 star.
Overall, there are a significant number of customer complaints about the company and its products. Complaints include poor customer service and the company not honouring its warranty and return policies. Customers have also complained about missing parts and notable manufacturing defects, including fiberglass strands fraying and leaking through the mattress cover.
Zinus is currently facing a proposed class-action lawsuit after a California customer’s four-year-old daughter experienced serious health issues related to the fiberglass in her Zinus mattress. This is just one of several thousand people in the United States who say they were affected by fiberglass in the mattress. If fiberglass is a health concern for you, another mattress option like Juno might be safer.
Choose the company that’s rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Spa Sensations a good mattress?
Spa Sensations by Zinus has an accessible price and a lot of bounce. However, it doesn’t come with a sleep trial or cooling features, and it has notable quality issues. We suggest Juno instead. Juno comes with a layer of cooling gel foam and an optional cooling cover. You’ll also get a generous 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle—all for just $499 for a queen size.
How long does a Spa Sensations mattress take to expand?
According to Zinus’s company FAQ, its mattresses may take up to 72 hours to fully expand. However, they should be safe to sleep on the first night after being unboxed. Zinus’s FAQ also indicates that jumping, walking, and sleeping on its mattresses during this time helps with decompression.
What is the Spa Sensations mattress warranty?
Zinus offers a 10-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. It covers defects in materials and workmanship only. This warranty is void if the mattress is not used with the correct foundation.
The warranty is also voided if the mattress is “altered, [its] outer cover and/or mattress tags are removed or if it is improperly used.”
How do you return a Spa Sensations mattress?
The Spa Sensations mattress we purchased for this review is no longer available for purchase from the company’s website. If you buy the mattress through one of Zinus’s authorized third-party retailers (like Walmart), the retailer’s return policy will apply.
How do you clean a Spa Sensations mattress?
Any spills or stains on your Spa Sensations mattress should be spot-cleaned only. The cover isn’t removable or machine-washable.
Can you flip a Spa Sensations mattress?
No, you shouldn’t flip a Spa Sensations mattress. Even though the mattress is a traditional innerspring design, it’s not designed to be flipped.
Can you roll a Spa Sensations mattress back up?
Zinus doesn’t say whether you can roll any of its mattresses back up after unboxing them. However, this can be difficult to do with any mattress that contains inner coils. Although the Spa Sensations mattress ships rolled and compressed in a box, we recommend not trying to roll the mattress back up once it has expanded.
What Spa Sensations mattress alternatives should I consider?
You should check out Juno. At $499 for a queen size, it comes with a longer 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. You also get a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s), giving you extra value with your purchase.
