Our Rankings
Edge support and motion isolation are factored into our overall mattress ratings. These scores are shown in green (scores of 5.0+), yellow (3.0–4.9), or red (2.9 and below). Firmness, bounce, and cooling features are a matter of personal preference and aren’t part of our rating system, so these scores are shown in grey.

Product Details
Sea Horse Everlasting is an 8″ all-foam mattress with 3 layers. It’s designed to be flippable, so you choose between a “Firm” or “Soft” sleeping surface. While third-party engineers confirmed that the Firm side had a true firm feel, the Soft side fell into the medium-firm category. Heavier sleepers and those with back pain might prefer a firm feel, but if you’re a side sleeper, you might notice pressure on your hip and shoulder.
The dense support foam used in the Sea Horse Everlasting mattress resulted in both sides having excellent edge support scores. However, third-party engineer testing indicated that the mattress didn’t absorb motion as well as foam mattresses typically do. Both sides of the mattress scored just above average for motion isolation.
The Everlasting mattress isn’t advertised as having any specific cooling capabilities. Its cover isn’t removable for machine washing, but is designed to be mold-mite resistant. This is good news if you live in a humid climate.
In comparison, mattresses like Douglas Summit are equipped with a cooling mattress top cover that’s removable and machine washable. Douglas also has a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles. At $1,299 for a queen size, Douglas Summit comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle—none of which are available with Sea Horse Everlasting.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Sea Horse mattresses are available for purchase from their retail locations. At the time of review publication, the company has four locations in Canada: Richmond, BC; Vancouver, BC; Edmonton, AB; and Markham, ON. However, not all store locations are mentioned on the Sea Horse website. If you live in one of these cities and decide to make a purchase, Sea Horse will deliver the mattress to your home for free. The mattress we ordered was personally delivered by the owner of the Sea Horse store two days after we purchased it.
If there isn’t a Sea Horse store in your area, the company says they can likely ship a mattress to your address. While purchases can’t be made from the Sea Horse website, you may be able to place an order over the phone or via email and have a Sea Horse mattress shipped directly to you. Shipping and delivery fees may apply.
Your Sea Horse mattress will come wrapped in two protective layers. The inner layer is plastic, and the outer is lined and reinforced paper packaging. The corners of the mattress are also protected by cardboard encasements. This helps protect the shape and appearance of the mattress while in transit.
When you receive your Sea Horse mattress, you’ll be the only person who has ever touched the mattress, apart from the people who made it. This is a positive if you’re conscious of germs or contamination. That said, it means the mattress comes with no sleep trial. This connection isn’t clear but was the rationale given for the lack of sleep trial when we visited the Sea Horse store. This also means you will likely not be able to return your mattress after purchase.
The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress we purchased came with a 10-year warranty. The terms of this warranty were not made clear to us, and there is limited information available online. We recommend confirming warranty details with a store clerk before you buy a Sea Horse mattress.
If you want a sleep trial to ensure your mattress is the perfect fit for you, consider Douglas Summit. All Douglas mattresses come with a 365-night sleep trial and 20-year warranty. Shipping and returns are free for most locations in Canada, and returned mattresses in good condition will be donated by the company. Your Douglas will also come with a free bedding bundle.

Sea Horse Mattress Construction
The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress stands 8″ tall and has 3 layers. It’s flippable, so the comfort and support layers can be switched whenever you want. However, there was no law label on the mattress for us to examine what materials were used in the mattress layers and cover.
The layers listed below presume that the “top” layer is the Firm side of the mattress.
- Layer 1: The first layer of this mattress is about 6.5″ of high-density foam. This layer acts as the comfort layer if you’re sleeping on the Firm side, or the support layer if you’re sleeping on the Soft side. This layer is what gives this mattress its very firm feel with almost no “sink.”
- Layer 2: The second layer of this mattress is about 1″ of a softer foam. When used on the Soft side, this layer will allow side sleepers to experience some slight pressure-point relief and body contouring.
- Layer 3: The final layer of this mattress is an additional 0.5″ of foam, which is designed to be the comfort layer if you decide to sleep on the Soft side. This layer of foam is quilted into the mattress’s cover.
When you use this mattress on the Soft side, you’ll benefit from the cushioning of the 1.5-2″ of softer foam layers. If you sleep on the Firm side, these layers won’t affect the mattress’s firm feel. There is also a final ⅛” layer of foam incorporated into the top cover of the Sea Horse Everlasting mattress. Because this layer is so thin, we don’t add it to our official layer count.
The mattress cover is not removable or machine-washable, so any spills or stains will need to be spot-cleaned. According to the Sea Horse website, the cover is designed to be mold-mite resistant.
The Sea Horse website also advises you to flip your mattress once a month. This may not be ideal if you prefer one side of the mattress over the other.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

8.0 /10
Firmness
The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress is flippable and has two distinct firmness options: Firm and Soft. Neither of Sea Horse’s sides has excessive “sink.” Third-party engineers (commissioned by us) tested each side to compare their differing scores.
On the “Firm” side, Sea Horse Everlasting tested as a true firm mattress as a result of its 0.8″ deflection (as seen in the image above). This translates to a firmness score of 8.0/10. The softer side, with its additional foam layers, had a deflection of 2.0″ and scored 6.8/10 for firmness. That actually puts the “Soft” side on the firmer end of medium-firm.
(Medium-firm mattresses are ideal for all sleep styles. Consider Douglas Summit with its thicker, pressure-relieving comfort layers and firmness score of 6.7/10.)

9.5 /10
Edge Support
Sea Horse Everlasting performed exceptionally well for edge support. This is thanks to its extremely high-density foam. With deflections of just 0.8″ and 1.3″ (as seen in the images above), the mattress earned an excellent edge support score of 9.5/10 on both sides. You can sleep farther away from the middle or sit on the edge of the mattress without sliding off.
5.6 /10
Motion Isolation
Because Sea Horse Everlasting has a firm feel and low level of sink, there is a higher level of motion transfer. The Firm side received a 5.6/10 for motion isolation—just above average for an all-foam mattress. The Soft side performed better with a score of 6.5/10, thanks to the extra padding.
These scores could mean that if you sleep with a pet or partner, you’re more likely to be woken up by their movements, especially if you sleep on the Firm side of the mattress.
(Is sleeping undisturbed important to you? Consider a mattress like Douglas Summit with its best-in-class motion isolation score of 8.8/10.)
5.6 /10
Bounce
Sea Horse Everlasting’s lack of sink also affects its bounce levels. This mattress earned a 5.6/10 bounce score for its Firm side and 4.8/10 for the Soft side. These scores are around average for a foam mattress. The mattress should have a fairly responsive feel, which makes it easy to change sleep positions.
(Like a little less bounce in your mattress? Check out Douglas Summit. Its layer of Elastex® foam provides a responsive feel, but its lower bounce score of 3.0/10 means a consistent sleep surface—ideal if you’re a light sleeper.)

0.0 /10
Cooling Features
Unfortunately, the Sea Horse website and the mattress’s law label provide limited information about its construction and possible cooling capabilities. As a result, this mattress didn’t earn any points for cooling features. Since the mattress is all foam and doesn’t have cooling gel or foam perforations, it may retain heat during the night.
If you sleep warm, you may prefer Douglas Summit. Its moisture-wicking mattress cover is infused with cooling nanofibres. The mattress also has phase-change material and layers of cooling gel foam and breathable Elastex® foam. All of these features come at $1,299 for a queen size, compared to $1,399 for Sea Horse Everlasting.

Company Background
Sea Horse is a Hong Kong-based company founded around 1985. According to its website, it was the top-selling mattress brand in Hong Kong for 35 years. Recognized for its extra-firm mattresses, the brand has gained popularity in Canada, leading to Sea Horse opening four stores across the country.
Despite the brand’s popularity in some markets, limited information about the company is available online. Sea Horse mattress reviews aren’t available on the brand’s website, and the company isn’t listed on third-party review sites like Trustpilot or Better Business Bureau. Because Sea Horse mattresses don’t come with a sleep trial, you’ll need to visit a showroom to test a mattress in person.
Choose the mattress company that’s rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot and “A+” on BBB.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Sea Horse mattress good?
The Sea Horse mattress is a true firm mattress with excellent edge support, making it well suited to back and stomach sleepers. However, this firm feel can be uncomfortable for side sleepers. The mattress also has only average motion isolation for an all-foam mattress, it doesn’t have any cooling features, and it doesn’t come with a sleep trial.
If you’re looking for a mattress that’s better suited for all sleepers, consider a medium-firm mattress like Douglas Summit. It has the best motion isolation of any mattress we’ve ever tested, along with advanced cooling features like a moisture-wicking cover and cooling foam layers to disperse excess body heat. Douglas Summit also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle, all for only $1,299 for a queen size.
Is there a sleep trial for Sea Horse mattresses?
No, Sea Horse mattresses don’t come with a sleep trial. For this reason, you may want to visit a Sea Horse showroom to try out a mattress before making a purchase.
Does the Sea Horse mattress come with a warranty?
The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress we purchased came with a 10-year warranty. The warranty of your Sea Horse mattress may depend on which model you purchase, and your specific retailer’s policies.
How firm is a Sea Horse mattress?
Sea Horse mattresses all have a very firm feel. These mattresses tend to have thinner comfort and transition layers, with thicker support layers of high-density foam. The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress earned a firmness score of 8.0/10 on its firm side, making it well-suited for those looking for an extremely firm mattress.
However, you may find this mattress uncomfortable if you sleep on your side or experience pressure points while you sleep. The dense foam allows very little “sink” into the mattress, meaning most parts of your body will rest on top of the mattress.
What is the Sea Horse mattress price in Canada?
A Sea Horse mattress price in Canada will vary by retailer. The Sea Horse Everlasting mattress we purchased ranges from $799 for a twin size to $1,699 for a king. A queen size retails at $1,399 before tax.
Where can I buy a Sea Horse mattress in Canada?
The Sea Horse website directs shoppers to their stores in Richmond and Vancouver, BC. There are also Sea Horse stores in Markham, ON, and Edmonton, AB. Once your decide to purchase a mattress in-store, they’ll have it delivered to your home for free. According to the company, they can ship from their store to “virtually any address in Canada.”
While purchases can’t be made from the Sea Horse website, you may be able to place an order over the phone or via email, and have a Sea Horse mattress shipped directly to you. However, this means that you do not get to try out the mattress before purchase, especially since Sea Horse mattresses do not come with a sleep trial. Shipping and delivery fees may apply for orders requiring cross-country shipping.
How do I bring home a Sea Horse mattress?
If you order a mattress in person at a Sea Horse store, they’ll have it delivered to your home for free. It comes fully expanded, wrapped in plastic, and additionally protected by a plastic-lined paper wrapper. From there, you simply have to maneuver the mattress into the room of your choice. Note that since the mattress is very firm, you may have trouble moving it around corners or through tight hallways.
