Product Details
Puffy Lux is a 12″ memory mattress with a medium level of firmness. It has very good edge support, above-average motion isolation, and very low bounce. It features cooling gel foam and Climate Comfort™ foam, although Puffy doesn’t specify what this second foam type is or how it contributes to a cooler sleep experience. Puffy Lux is compatible with all bed bases and foundations, including adjustable bases.
The cover on Puffy Lux is 100% polyester and is hypoallergenic, but is not removable or machine washable. Spills or stains should be spot-cleaned only. Polyester is also known to trap heat. Considering the mattress’s overall lack of cooling features, this may be bad news if you’re a hot sleeper.
The fire sock under the cover contains fiberglass, according to a response in the customer question section on the Puffy website’s product page. Fiberglass can be hazardous to your health and your home, so we advise against removing the mattress cover.
Competing mattress Douglas Summit, in comparison, offers easier maintenance, better cooling, and premium features at an affordable price of just $1,299 for a queen size. Summit’s cooling nanofibre cover is machine washable, making it easier to clean. The mattress is designed with cooling gel foam and phase-change material, doing even more to help you sleep cool. You’ll also get a 365-night sleep trial and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Puffy ships their mattresses for free via FedEx throughout Canada. You can expect your mattress to reach your doorstep in 5–7 business days, including dispatch and delivery time.
The Puffy Lux mattress comes with a 101-night sleep trial, which is one day above the industry average. During that time, you can decide whether to keep the mattress or return it. The company requires you to wait 14 days before initiating a return, but offers full refunds and free return pickup service.
Puffy mattresses ship with a lifetime manufacturer’s limited warranty. This warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials only, as well as sagging greater than 1.5″ not caused by improper use or an improper foundation.
However, customer reviews complain that Puffy doesn’t honour warranty claims for the types of damage listed above. Your mattress won’t be covered for any damage that may be sustained during its delivery, or even for normal wear and tear. The term “lifetime” also means “the length of time when you own the mattress.” If you give the mattress away, the warranty coverage will end.

Puffy Lux Mattress Construction
Puffy Lux stands 12″ tall and contains 4 interior foam layers. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The mattress’s top layer is 1.5″ of cooling gel-infused memory foam. This layer conforms the most to your body when lying down, and dissipates heat while you sleep.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 1.5″ of cooling gel-infused memory foam. This is the same material as the layer above, and also contours around your body while dissipating heat.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 2″ of transition foam. This layer stops you from feeling the denser support layer below. This layer is made using the company’s Climate Comfort™ foam, but it’s not clear what this technology does.
- Layer 4: The bottom layer is 7″ of high-density support foam. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and prevents you from sinking too deeply into your bed.
Puffy Lux’s mattress cover is made from 100% polyester. The cover is not machine washable, so any spills or stains should be spot-cleaned only. Polyester has been known to trap heat while you’re sleeping, which may limit the effectiveness of the cooling gel foam layers.
According to the customer Q&A section on the mattress’s product page, the interior fire sock of this mattress also contains fiberglass. This material wasn’t listed on the law label of the mattress we received. Fiberglass particles can be a significant health hazard if they breach the mattress cover. While we did so safely for the purposes of the review, we advise not removing the cover to be safe.
Try a mattress with better cooling features and a machine-washable cover.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
5.2 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Puffy Lux had a deflection of 3.6″ when laid on, resulting in a 5.2/10 firmness score. This puts it in the medium category for firmness. While side sleepers might enjoy this softer feel, back sleepers and stomach sleepers may find that Puffy Lux doesn’t have enough support.
(Looking for a firmer mattress? Douglas Summit‘s score of 6.7/10 places it in the medium-firm category, making it ideal for all sleep styles.)
7.8 /10
Edge Support
Puffy Lux had a deflection of 4.4″ from a seated position, contributing to its 7.8/10 edge support score. This is a very good score for a foam mattress. You can sit on the edge of this mattress or sleep farther away from the middle without sinking into the sidewalls.
6.6 /10
Motion Isolation
Puffy Lux earned a 6.6/10 motion isolation score, which is above average for a foam mattress. If you sleep with a partner, pets, or kids, however, you may notice movement from the other side of the bed.
(Douglas Summit‘s best-in-class 8.8/10 motion isolation score means you’re guaranteed to sleep through the night undisturbed.)
2.3 /10
Bounce
Puffy Lux earned a 2.3/10 bounce score—a very low score, even for a foam mattress. You may have some difficulty changing sleep positions on this mattress, and it might not have the responsiveness you need to help you get up in the morning.
(Need a little more bounce? Douglas Summit’s 3.0/10 bounce score gives you the responsiveness you need.)
1.3 /10
Cooling Features
Although Puffy Lux is advertised as a “cooling comfort” mattress on the company’s website, it only has two cooling features worth noting. This mattress earns points for its:
- Gel-infused foam, which improves body heat dissipation and helps temperature regulation.
- Climate Comfort™ technology, which adds unspecified cooling benefits to the mattress.
If you’re looking for a premium foam mattress with cooling features to match, you may prefer Douglas Summit. Summit offers a machine-washable CoolSense® cover that wicks moisture away while you sleep, ecoLight® cooling gel foam, breathable Elastex® foam to promote airflow, and phase-change material for temperature balance—all for $1,299 for a queen size, compared to $2,899 for Puffy Lux.

Customers have reported problems with shipping, mattress quality, and warranty claims.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Puffy mattresses good?
Puffy Lux performs well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). However, it lacks the cooling features we’d expect to see in a foam mattress that costs $2,899 for a queen size. Its sleep trial is also only slightly better than the industry standard.
You might be better off trying Douglas Summit. Featuring a machine-washable cooling nanofibre cover, cooling gel foam, and phase-change material, Summit goes the extra mile to keep you cool. At $1,299 for a queen size, it’s available for half the cost of Puffy Lux, and offers a lot more. Your purchase also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.
How much is a Puffy mattress?
The Puffy Lux mattress has a price range of $2,249–$3,099, depending on the size you choose. A queen-size Puffy Lux costs $2,899.
Where can I buy a Puffy mattress in Canada?
In Canada, Puffy offers its mattresses for sale through its online store. It may also be possible to find a Puffy mattress through a third-party mattress reseller.
Where can I try a Puffy mattress?
Puffy only sells its mattresses online. The company doesn’t sell its mattresses in traditional brick and mortar stores. Instead, you have a 101-night sleep trial to try your Puffy mattress before deciding to keep it. The company requires you to wait 14 days before initiating a return, though.
Who owns Puffy Mattress?
Puffy Mattress is an independent, privately owned company. The company’s founder and current CEO is Arthur Andreasyan.
Where are Puffy mattresses made?
Puffy manufactures all mattresses for its Canadian customers in Canada.
Can you flip a Puffy mattress?
No, the Puffy Mattress isn’t meant to be flipped. The company says you can rotate the mattress every few months, which is good practice for extending the lifetime of your mattress.
Does the Puffy mattress come in a box?
Yes, Puffy ships its mattresses in a box, following the bed-in-a-box model. Puffy Lux is fairly light, but you might still need two people to carry it inside.
How firm is the Puffy mattress?
The Puffy Lux mattress scored 5.2/10 for firmness in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), where 10 is the most firm. Puffy’s score falls into the medium category, making it one of the softer mattresses we’ve reviewed. This mattress should feel comfortable if you’re a side sleeper, but back and stomach sleepers might find that it doesn’t have the support they need.
How long does a Puffy mattress last?
Puffy has a lifetime warranty for its mattresses. This should mean that your mattress will either last as long as you own it, or can be replaced in case of any issues. However, Puffy customer reviews on Trustpilot and Better Business Bureau complain of mattresses degrading within a few years of purchase.
