Memory Foam Mattress With Limited Cooling Features

Polysleep Origin 2.0 is a medium-firm memory foam mattress made in Canada. It’s designed with hypoallergenic and anti-microbial features, and the machine-washable mattress cover helps to regulate sleep temperature. Origin 2.0 is available through online order at $995 for a queen size.

This “upgraded” mattress has a firmer feel and poorer motion isolation than the previous version. Polysleep also offers only a 100-night sleep trial—which isn’t available if you live in some remote areas—and a 10-year warranty.

This makes the mattress less desirable than other foam mattresses like Octave Vista, which comes with a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. Octave also provides an innovative five-zoned support system, superior motion isolation, and excellent pressure-point relief to aid in your natural overnight recovery.

Delivery box for Polysleep Origin mattress

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Polysleep offers free Canada-wide shipping. Your order should reach your doorstep in 4–9 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. You’ll need to pay an added fee for shipping to remote locations like Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut.

Polysleep offers a 100-night sleep trial to test your mattress at home. However, this trial isn’t available if you live in the Canadian territories. Competing brands also offer significantly longer trials. For example, Octave comes with a 365-night sleep trial to make sure you love your mattress.

If you don’t like your Origin 2.0, you can exchange it once for a different Polysleep mattress. This option is only available after sleeping on the mattress for at least 45 nights—nearly half the length of the sleep trial.

You will need to pay the difference in cost if you’re upgrading to a more expensive mattress. You’ll also be using the same (now much shorter) sleep trial. It’s not clear whether Polysleep provides a partial refund if you switch to a less expensive mattress.

Finally, Polysleep only offers a 10-year warranty. This is industry standard—but some competing mattress brands do better. Octave provides a 15-year warranty, giving you considerably longer coverage.

Yes

Polysleep Origin 2.0 has 3 layers of latex-free antimicrobial memory foam.

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 1″ of viscoelastic foam, which Polysleep claims is antimicrobial. This is fairly thin for a top layer, meaning you’ll feel more of the transition layer beneath. Foam density is 3 lb/ft³.
  • Layer 2: This 2″ transition layer is designed for body contouring and responsiveness. It has the lowest density of all layers at 1.3 lb/ft³.
  • Layer 3: The 7″ support layer has half the density of the top layer at 1.5 lb/ft³, despite needing density to support the upper layers. This may be one reason why Origin 2.0’s edge support score is lower than the original version.

The polyester/polyviscose cover is machine washable. While the cover is designed to be breathable, it doesn’t use phase-change material or offer other cooling features. Memory foam is known for sleeping hot, so Origin 2.0 may not be ideal if you’re shopping for a cooling mattress.

Mattress Performance Results

5.9 /10

Edge Support

Origin 2.0 tested average for edge support with a 5.9/10. You should be able to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed without falling off. It’s worth noting, though, that this score is significantly lower than the first Origin’s edge support score of 8.9/10. (It’s also much lower than Octave Vista with its edge support score of 7.5/10.)

6.5 /10

Motion Isolation

Origin 2.0 tested slightly above average for motion isolation with a 6.5/10. This should ensure that you and your partner will sleep soundly.

However, this mattress doesn’t meet the expectations set by the previous Origin’s score of 8.0/10. It also falls short of Octave Vista and its higher score of 7.3/10.

4.6 /10

Bounce

Origin 2.0 earned a bounce score of 4.6/10, which is reasonably responsive for a memory foam mattress. Origin 2.0 has more bounce than its predecessor, which scored 3.2/10.

(If you’re looking for a mattress with a lower level of bounce, consider Octave Vista with its bounce score of 3.7/10.)

Cooling Features

Polysleep Origin 2.0 isn’t designed with any advanced cooling features or technology, but the company does advertise one cooling feature. This mattress earns points for its:

  1. Layer of open-cell memory foam, which Polysleep says “allows air to flow and temperatures to regulate”

However, open cells aren’t enough to balance out the heat-trapping properties of memory foam. If you need a mattress with enhanced cooling features, you might prefer Octave Vista instead.

Vista is designed with innovative temperature-regulating technology for a cooler night’s sleep. It includes a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre cover to draw sweat away from your body, copper-infused memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material for temperature balance, and multi-zone support foam with air channels for breathability and temperature control.

These features combine to provide a more refreshing sleep experience—all for a lower price of just $899 for a queen size, compared to $995 for Polysleep Origin 2.0.

No Reviews

Founded in 2016, Polysleep is a Canadian company that offers most of its retail services online. The company maintains a rating of “A+” on Better Business Bureau. Polysleep also has 3.5/5 stars on its unclaimed Trustpilot profile, but there aren’t any reviews to go with that rating. In fact, there are no customer reviews on either platform, which is highly unusual.

While Polysleep has 1,700+ reviews on its website, there are only a handful of one- and two-star reviews. Again, this is extremely unusual. One such review says they tried to leave a one-star review, but “they don’t allow them on their website.” This means there may be more reviews that aren’t shown and could present a far different picture of the company.

Choose the mattress brand with 6,400+ reviews and a Trustpilot rating of “Excellent”.

Should You Buy Polysleep Origin 2.0?

While Polysleep Origin 2.0 is a reasonably good memory foam mattress, it’s a significant downgrade from the previous version when it comes to engineer testing. Consider an alternative like Octave Vista instead.

Octave Vista offers advanced cooling and comfort features that Polysleep doesn’t have, like five-zoned ergonomic support and advanced pressure-point relief. Octave also comes with a much longer 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.

Vista is priced at just $899 for a queen size, compared to $995 for Polysleep. Overall, Octave offers an exceptionally comfortable and restorative sleep at a more affordable price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Polysleep mattress cover machine washable?

Yes. The Origin 2.0 mattress cover unzips easily and can be washed in most washing machines. Polysleep highly recommends washing the cover using a delicate wash cycle, and air drying when finished.

What does the Polysleep warranty cover?

Origin 2.0’s 10-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects, surface indentation, splits and cracks in the foam, and defects in the mattress cover‘s zipper. It’s unclear if the warranty covers damage to the mattress during delivery.

Where is the Polysleep Origin 2.0 mattress made?

Polysleep manufactures all of its memory foam mattresses in Canada. The company’s primary factory is located in Montreal, Québec.

Does the Polysleep Origin 2.0 mattress need a special frame?

Polysleep recommends placing the mattress on a base that’s flat and solid, like the company’s proprietary base. Using other physical foundations like a bed frame with boxspring can cause memory foam mattresses to sink noticeably.

What Polysleep mattress alternatives should I consider?

Looking for a mattress that keeps you cool, keeps you from noticing your restless partner’s movements and is meticulously crafted for deeper, more rejuvenating sleep? We think you’ll like Octave Vista.

Vista’s cooling features include a CryoFusionnanofibre cover and multi-zone support foam with air channels for breathability and temperature control. Its memory foam layers are also infused with antimicrobial copper, which transfers heat away from your body, and treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material for a temperature-balanced sleep environment.

Octave has two upgraded options: Octave Mirage and Octave Horizon. Both models come with even more innovative construction and advanced cooling features to aid in your body’s natural overnight recovery, helping you achieve high-quality sleep and enhancing your overall health.

With a 365-night sleep trial (compared to just 100 nights with Polysleep), you’ll have plenty of time to try Octave before making your decision. Your mattress purchase also comes with a free bedding bundle. Get all of these features at an accessible price of $899 for a queen-size Octave Vista.
