Budget Mattress with No Sleep Trial

Molblly is a firm all-foam budget mattress that features a breathable cover and a layer of cooling gel foam. It’s sold through Amazon for $214 for a queen size.

Although Molblly is affordable, it doesn’t come with a sleep trial because Amazon only allows returns for unopened mattresses. This means you will be stuck with this mattress if it doesn’t meet your needs and will still be out of pocket. Molblly also comes with only an industry-standard 10-year warranty.

Looking for an affordable mattress that comes with a longer warranty, an at-home sleep trial, and a free bedding bundle for added value? Consider competitor brands like Juno instead.

Molblly Mattress Sizes & Prices

Molblly has an unusual pricing strategy for a brand with a limited size range. Twin mattresses are priced higher than queen mattresses. This strategy is uncommon in the industry, and we couldn’t find any reason for this pricing choice.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Molblly delivers its mattresses via Amazon’s delivery service. It should reach your doorstep in 5–25 business days, including dispatch and delivery—a longer-than-average timeline for a mattress in a box. If you have an Amazon Prime account, you may be eligible for quicker shipping times.

Shipping is free to most postal codes but may take longer and incur additional fees if you live in a remote area. For example, we checked the delivery cost for a location in the Northwest Territories and were quoted $552.60 in additional shipping fees.

There is no sleep trial for Molblly mattresses purchased through Amazon. You can return an unopened Molblly within 30 days of purchase for a refund, but Amazon does not accept returns for unboxed and expanded mattresses. Amazon may also deduct part of your refund as a restocking fee, even if you received free shipping to begin with.

Molblly comes with an industry-standard 10-year warranty. At the time this review was published, Molblly’s website was under construction and the Amazon store page didn’t outline what the warranty includes. That said, most mattress companies offer a limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects, but not incidental damage.

In comparison, competitor mattress Juno offers a 120-night sleep trial, a longer 15-year warranty, and full refunds with free return pickup service.

Molblly Mattress Construction

HeightLayersCertiPUR-US® CertifiedMachine-Washable Cover

10″

3

Yes

No

Molblly stands 10″ tall and has 3 foam layers. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified, but Molblly doesn’t disclose the densities of the specific foams used.

  • Layer 1: The top layer is 2″ of cooling gel-infused memory foam. This layer conforms the most to your body’s shape while you’re lying down, and dissipates your body heat.
  • Layer 2: The middle layer is 2.5″ of unspecified high-density polyurethane foam. This layer prevents you from feeling the denser support layer below.
  • Layer 3: The support layer is 5.5″ of high-density foam. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and stops you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

The breathable mattress cover accounts for the remaining 0.5″ height. It’s made of 100% polyester, and although the cover has a zipper, Molblly doesn’t indicate on its Amazon product page whether or not it’s machine-washable. We recommend spot-cleaning any spills or stains just to be safe.

Disclaimer: Note that Molblly changed their mattress design shortly before this review was published. If you choose to purchase a Molblly mattress, yours may look different.

Mattress Performance Results

7.0 /10

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Molblly scored 7.0/10 for firmness, placing it in the firm category. This is much firmer than the product page advertises, which describes the mattress’s feel as “medium.” You could find this mattress comfortable if you’re a back or stomach sleeper, but it may cause pressure points if you’re a side sleeper.

(Looking for a mattress with a slightly softer feel? Juno scored 6.0/10 for firmness, which translates to a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles.)

9.0 /10

Edge Support

Molblly scored 9.0/10 for edge support. This is an excellent score for a foam mattress. You can sit on the edge of the mattress or sleep further away from the middle without sinking into the mattress’s sidewalls.

7.1 /10

Motion Isolation

Foam mattresses generally have better motion isolation than innerspring or hybrid mattresses. Molblly scored 7.1/10 for motion isolation, which is a very good score. You won’t notice most of your partner’s movements when they change sleep positions.

3.6 /10

Bounce

In third-party engineer testing, Molblly scored 3.6/10 for bounce, which is lower than average for a foam mattress. This is good if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily awoken by movement.

(Looking for even less bounce for a more restful sleep? Consider Juno with its bounce score of 2.5/10.)

Cooling Features

Molblly isn’t marketed as a cooling mattress, but it still has a couple of features to help you sleep cool at night. This mattress earns points for its:

  1. Breathable top cover designed to promote air circulation
  2. Cooling gel foam layer, which actively dissipates body heat

These features are very similar to those offered with competitor mattress Juno. However, Juno also has an optional Cool+ cover upgrade. It also offers much more value with its 120-night sleep trial, 15-year warranty, easy returns, and free bedding bundle.

“Average”

Molblly is a bed-in-a-box company founded in 2007 that sells mostly through Amazon, Canada’s top e-commerce retailer. Molblly is one of many mattress brands that operate on the website, as well as one of the most popular. Their product lineup consists of affordable foam mattresses that are available in different heights and colours.

Despite its relatively popular profile on Amazon, the company lacks a BBB profile. The company has a “Average” rating on Trustpilot with 3.8/5 stars. However, 20% of the customer reviews are only 1 star.

Some customers have reported difficulty dealing with Molblly’s customer service. Other common complaints include the company’s mattresses sagging and degrading relatively soon after purchase, as well as issues with delivery. Several reviews left on Amazon also say that the mattress contains fiberglass, which is a significant health hazard.

Buy from a mattress company that’s rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Should You Buy Molblly?

Molblly is affordable and has good edge support and motion isolation. But its lack of special features, nonexistent sleep trial, and restrictive return policy make it difficult to recommend. We think you should consider Juno instead.

At $499 for a queen size, Juno gives you much more value at an affordable price. It has a layer of cooling gel foam, an optional cooling cover upgrade, a 120-night sleep trial with full refunds and return pickup, and a 15-year warranty.

Your purchase also comes with a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s), giving you extra value with your purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Molblly mattresses good?

Molblly mattresses perform well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), but it’s hard to recommend a mattress that doesn’t come with an at-home sleep trial. You can only return a Molblly mattress unopened within 30 days to get a refund. Amazon doesn’t accept returns for unboxed mattresses.

Juno, on the other hand, comes with a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. The sleep trial includes the option for free return pickup with a full refund. Your mattress purchase also comes with a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s).

Who makes the Molblly mattress?

Molblly is made by the company of the same name. According to the law label on the mattress we reviewed, it was manufactured at the My Phuoc 2 Industrial Park in Vietnam’s Binh Duong province.

Where are Molblly mattresses made?

Although Molblly’s Amazon store page says that all of its products are assembled in Canada, the law label on the mattress we purchased says it was made in Vietnam. Because the mattress we received has a different cover design than the model currently sold through Amazon, it’s possible that the older version was made in Vietnam and the newer version is now made in Canada. However, we can’t say for sure whether this is the case.

Do Molblly mattresses have fiberglass?

The law label on the mattress we purchased did not list fiberglass, and did not seem to contain any when we opened up the cover to analyze the mattress for our review. That said, several customers on Amazon have reported finding fiberglass once they removed the mattress cover. Fiberglass is common in low-cost mattresses manufactured outside of Canada.

Where do you buy a Molblly mattress?

At the time of this review, Molblly only sells its mattresses through Amazon. It may be possible to find Molblly mattresses available for resale through other third-party retailers.

How do I return a Molblly mattress?

Amazon doesn’t allow returns for used mattresses. The company has a 30-day return policy for most items, but this only applies to unopened and unexpanded mattresses.

What Molblly mattress alternatives should I consider?

We think you should consider Juno. Juno offers excellent value at just $499, featuring a layer of cooling gel foam, a 120-night sleep trial, and a 15-year warranty. It also comes with a mattress protector and a free bedding item, giving you more value with your purchase.
