Memory Foam Mattress With No Refunds

Loop is a memory foam mattress-in-a-box made by DreamStar Bedding. It’s available in-store and online from RD Furniture with a price tag of $1,099 for a queen size.

While Loop has above-average edge support and good motion isolation, it’s difficult to recommend this mattress. RD Furniture has a firm no-refund policy, and we couldn’t reach their customer service team on several occasions. Loop also comes with a sleep trial of just 90 nights (compared to the industry-standard 100-night trial) and the warranty length is not clearly stated.

In comparison, competing budget mattress brands like Juno offer more value at a lower price. Juno comes with a risk-free 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty at a lower price of $499 for a queen size. You’ll also get a free bedding bundle with your purchase, plus the ability return the mattress within the sleep trial window for a full refund.

Shop Juno and get a risk-free sleep 120-night trial and a 15-year warranty.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

RD Furniture offers free shipping as part of the purchase price. Delivery is subcontracted to a variety of different shipping companies, depending on the region. RD Furniture doesn’t list a specific delivery timetable, but indicates that delivery “could take a few days up to 3 weeks.”

The Loop mattress comes with a 90-night sleep trial, in line with RD Furniture’s ComfoRD policy. If you decide to return your Loop mattress, you have the one-time opportunity to choose a different mattress between nights 90 and 120. The exchange must be of equal or lesser value.

Otherwise, RD Furniture is very firm that all sales are final. They will not refund your purchase, except under limited circumstances. It’s worth noting that you may not be able to speak with their customer service team about any concerns. We used the chat feature on RD Furniture’s website multiple times and were repeatedly told to try again later.

According to RD Furniture’s website, the Loop mattress comes with a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty. However, the warranty code on Loop’s law tag indicates that DreamStar offers a limited warranty of 10 years, not 15.

No

The Loop mattress stands 10.5″ tall and contains 4 foam layers. RD Furniture doesn’t disclose the density of these layers.

  • Layer 1: The top layer is 0.75″ of gel-infused memory foam. Memory foam contours to your body’s shape while you’re lying on it, which lets the mattress “hug” you.
  • Layer 2: Like the layer above, this second layer is 0.75″ of gel-infused memory foam. RD Furniture describes the foam in the first two layers as organic, thermal regulating, hypoallergenic, and ergonomically supportive. However, the company doesn’t say how the foam provides these properties.
  • Layer 3: The middle layer is 2″ of “high-resilient” foam. This layer prevents you from sinking too deeply into the mattress, and insulates you from feeling the denser support layer beneath.
  • Layer 4: The bottom layer is 7″ of high-density “Bio Soy” foam. This is Loop’s foundation, and gives it the structure needed to support your body’s weight. Its thickness and density prevent you from sinking too far into Loop’s upper layers.

Loop’s mattress cover is made of cotton fibre, with a stylish pink zipper about a third of the way down from the edge. Although we were able to remove the cover, there’s no information about whether the mattress cover is machine washable. We attempted to contact RD Furniture’s customer service team about this topic multiple times but were repeatedly told to try again later.

Machine washability is usually a feature that manufacturers actively promote, so we recommend being cautious and spot-washing the mattress cover only.

Mattress Performance Results

6.1 /10

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Loop had a 2.6″ deflection when laid on, contributing to a 6.1/10 firmness score. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category, which is in line with how RD Furniture describes it.

(Sometimes a little difference means a lot. Juno‘s 6.0/10 firmness rating offers the perfect balance between comfort and support.)

6.8 /10

Edge Support

Loop had a deflection of 5.4″ from a seated position, earning it a 6.8/10 score for edge support. This is above average for a memory foam mattress. Loop will give you a bit more support while sitting on or sleeping close to the edge of the bed.

(If you like to sit on the edge of the mattress or find it difficult getting out of bed, pick a mattress with as much edge support as you can get. Juno scored 8.0/10 for edge support.)

7.7 /10

Motion Isolation

Loop scored 7.7/10 for motion isolation, which is a good score for a memory foam mattress. This means you’ll notice very little of your partner’s movements while sleeping.

8.1 /10

Bounce

Loop scored 8.1/10 for bounce. This is an extremely high score for a foam mattress. A bounce score this high means it’s easier to get up after lying down, but you might find Loop too responsive, especially if you’re a light sleeper.

(Looking for a less bouncy mattress? Juno has a bounce rating of 2.5/10. Combined with its layer of cooling gel foam, this helps Juno give you the quality sleep you deserve.)

1.2 /10

Cooling Features

Loop isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, but it has one cooling feature that may help keep temperatures comfortable. Loop earns points for its:

1. Gel infusion to promote cooling in the memory foam layers

However, a cooling gel infusion may not be enough to balance out the heat-trapping properties of memory foam. If you’re looking for enhanced cooling at a lower price, consider Juno instead. Juno comes with a layer of cooling gel foam and the option to upgrade to a Cool+ cover—all for just $499 for a queen size, compared to $1,099 for Loop.

“Bad”

RD Furniture was founded in 2005 as Surplus RD in Victoriaville, Quebec. The company specializes in furniture liquidation, mostly selling surplus mid- to high-end inventory from over 50 companies. All products are sold new and in their original packaging.

In September 2019, the company rebranded itself to RD Furniture as part of a new development strategy. The company currently has more than 30 brick-and-mortar stores in the province of Quebec.

The company is rated “F” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau under its French name (Meubles RD). It’s rated “Bad” on Trustpilot under its previous English name (Surplus RD). Many negative reviews mention issues with customer service, warranty claims, and deliveries.

We also were unable to make contact with RD Furniture’s customer service team, despite multiple attempts. This will be a problem if you need support for your mattress for any reason.

Should You Buy Loop?

Although Loop has above-average edge support and good motion isolation, it has a restrictive return policy with no refunds. The distributor, RD Furniture, also has a poor online reputation. We recommend Juno instead.

Juno has even better edge support, a cooling gel layer, and the option to upgrade to a Cool+ cover—all for just $499 for a queen size. Your Juno mattress also comes with a free bedding bundle.

With a risk-free 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, Juno offers more opportunity to try before you buy. Juno is also rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot. The brand has 4,900+ five-star reviews from happy customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Loop a good mattress?

Loop is a decent foam mattress with good edge support and motion isolation. However, its restrictive return policy makes Loop difficult to recommend. You should always have the option to return a mattress if you don’t love it, and you should receive a full refund.

We think you’ll get more value with Juno. Juno offers a risk-free 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. You have the option to return the mattress for a full refund within the trial window. Juno is also more affordably priced at $499 for a queen size.

Is the Loop mattress cover machine washable?

At the time of writing, there’s no information on the RD Furniture or Dreamstar websites about how to clean Loop’s mattress cover. We attempted to contact RD Furniture’s customer service team multiple times for more information but were unable to reach anyone. Loop’s law label doesn’t include cleaning information, either. To be safe, we recommend spot-cleaning the mattress cover as needed.

Where is the Loop mattress made?

Loop’s manufacturer, DreamStar Bedding, makes its mattresses in Canada.

How much does a Loop mattress cost?

Loop has a price range of $799 to $1,299, depending on the size you choose. This mattress is available in sizes ranging from twin to king.

How do I return a Loop mattress?

RD Furniture has a firm “all sales are final” policy. The company will consider an exchange if your mattress is damaged, but you must file a claim through RD Furniture’s online after-sales service form as quickly as possible.

If you picked up your Loop mattress from one of RD Furniture’s brick-and-mortar stores, you have a 24-hour window after purchase to file a claim. The claim window is extended to 48 hours if your Loop mattress was shipped to you.

Instead of refunding your purchase, RD Furniture will offer “an equivalent or similar product of equal or greater value.” This means you’ll need to pay the difference if you exchange Loop for a higher-value mattress.

Where is the Loop mattress available?

Dreamstar Bedding products are mainly available in Quebec. Loop doesn’t ship to other regions in Canada, with the exception of the Ontario municipalities of Ottawa and Orléans (within a 25-kilometre radius) and part of New Brunswick.

What Loop mattress alternatives should I consider?

We recommend Juno instead. Affordably priced at just $499 for a queen size, Juno comes with a risk-free 120-night sleep trial, and a 15-year warranty. Your purchase also comes with a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s).
