Mattress From A Blanket Company

Hush Arctic Luxe is a Canadian-made hybrid mattress. It includes some cooling features like phase-change material, a thin graphite layer, and a gel foam layer. However, it lacks some of the advanced features found in other cooling mattresses. It also has a higher price tag than many hybrids at $1,895 for a queen size.

Hush Blanket Company is rated “F” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Bad” on Trustpilot, with numerous unanswered and unresolved complaints related to sales, delivery, and warranty issues.

In comparison, competitor Logan & Cove Frontier offers many of the same cooling features as Hush Arctic Luxe, as well as a nanofibre cover and breathable micro coils, for just $899 for a queen size. Logan & Cove is also rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Note: This review is for the Hush Arctic Luxe Mattress, which has been discontinued in Canada. Hush discontinued all of its mattresses in January 2024 and replaced them with the Hush Graph-Iced Mattress.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Hush offers free delivery throughout most of Canada. The mattress should be on your doorstep in 6–9 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. The mattress is compressed and delivered in a box, following the bed-in-a-box standard.

Like many other manufacturers, Hush charges extra for shipping to remote areas. If you live in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, or Nunavut, there’s a $150 additional fee for shipping. Hush also doesn’t ship king-size mattresses or bed frames to these regions.

Hush offers a 100-night sleep trial. During this period, you can test the mattress at home for a few months before making your final decision. You can return the mattress between nights 30 and 100. If you decide to return the Hush mattress during the sleep trial, the company will pick it up for free and give you a full refund.

Hush offers a 10-year warranty for its mattresses, covering manufacturer defects only. The company is very clear that this warranty doesn’t cover wear and tear that occurs through normal use. Hush also has multiple unanswered complaints on BBB related to guarantee and warranty issues.

Hush’s offer falls short compared to the sleep trial and return policies of competing hybrid mattresses like Logan & Cove Frontier. Logan & Cove offers a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, which gives you significantly more time to evaluate and enjoy the mattress.

Hush Mattress Construction

HeightLayersCertiPUR-US® CertifiedMachine-Washable Cover

13″

5

Yes

No

Hush Arctic Luxe stands 13″ tall. It has 5 layers made of poly foam, gel memory foam, and steel coils.

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 0.75″ of soft polyurethane foam. Combined with the pillow top, this provides a somewhat plush surface you can sink into.
  • Layer 2: This is a 1″ layer of gel memory foam, offering contouring support. This layer also is also designed to provide extra cooling, but this feature may be less noticeable beneath the pillow top and comfort layer.
  • Layer 3: This layer is 1″ of polyurethane foam. It most likely has a different density from the poly foam layer beneath, but exact density is unknown.
  • Layer 4: 1″ of polyurethane foam creates a transitional layer between the upper layers and the mattress’s foundation.
  • Layer 5: The bottom (support) layer is made up of 8″ individually wrapped pocketed coils. These coils are divided into three different zones to help support various parts of your body and align your spine while you sleep.

All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified. Hush doesn’t specify the density of the foam used in Hush Arctic Luxe. The company claims that Hush Arctic Luxe contains phase-change material, a thin graphite layer, and “food-grade soy byproduct materials,” but it’s not clear where these materials are located within the mattress.

The Hush Arctic Luxe Hybrid mattress has a quilted top cover made from a polyethylene with 1% spandex to add a little stretchiness. The sides are covered in black upholstery with stitching details, and include fabric handles to make the mattress easier to move.

The top cover contains phase-change material to help redistribute heat. (So does competitor Logan & Cove Frontier, which also includes cooling nanofibres to keep you comfortable.) The cover also isn’t removable or machine-washable. The manufacturer recommends spot-cleaning only to keep the mattress clean and avoid damaging its cooling features.

Mattress Performance Results

3.5 /10

Edge Support

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Hush Arctic Luxe performed below average for edge support with a 3.5/10. This score is lower than we expect to see from a hybrid mattress.

Competitor Logan & Cove Frontier has a significantly higher edge support score of 7.3/10. This means you should be able to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed without falling off.

7.2 /10

Motion Isolation

Hush Arctic Luxe scores very well for motion isolation with a 7.2/10. You and your partner can sleep on this mattress without disturbing each other with your movements.

5.6 /10

Bounce

Hush Arctic Luxe earned a bounce score of 5.6/10, which puts it at an average score for responsiveness. You should be able to change positions and get out of bed without too much difficulty.

This level of bounciness isn’t something that everyone will like, though. If you’re a lighter sleeper and you prefer a more consistent surface, a mattress like Logan & Cove Frontier might be better with its bounce rating of 5.8/10.

5.6 /10

Cooling Features

Hush Arctic Luxe is a hybrid mattress advertised for its cooling features. However, its pillow-top design and plush surface may cause sleepers to sink further into the mattress, leading to heat-trapping. Hush Arctic Luxe earns points for its:

  1. Phase-change material in the top cover to dissipate heat
  2. Layer of gel-infused foam to regulate temperatures
  3. Graphite infusion, although it’s unclear which layer of the mattress contains it
  4. Layer of pocket coils that improve breathability and airflow

If you’re looking for a hybrid mattress with similar cooling features for a more affordable price, consider Logan & Cove Frontier.

Frontier features a Euro-style cooling top cover, a layer of cooling gel foam, breathable Elastex foam, and layers of micro and pocket coils to disperse excess heat. For just $1,299 for a queen size, Frontier offers great cooling and value, compared to $1,895 for Hush Arctic Luxe.

Should You Buy Hush Arctic Luxe?

Hush no longer manufactures the Arctic Luxe mattress. Even if you can find it through a third-party retailer, it lacks advanced cooling features and is priced higher than similar mattresses at $1,895 for a queen size. We recommend Logan & Cove Frontier instead.

Logan & Cove Frontier is more affordably priced at just $1,299 for a queen size. It has advanced cooling features like a nanofibre cover, cooling gel foam, phase-change material, and a micro-coil layer for better air circulation and body contouring.

Your Logan & Cove mattress comes with a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. You also get a free bedding bundle with your purchase. Logan & Cove Frontier provides more value and peace of mind at half the cost of a Hush Arctic Luxe mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Hush mattresses good?

Compared to competitors like Logan & Cove Frontier, Hush Arctic Luxe has fewer cooling features, lower edge support, and a shorter sleep trial and warranty—while costing nearly twice as much.

We think you’ll find more value with Logan & Cove Frontier. It comes with advanced cooling features like a cooling nanofibre cover, gel foam layer, phase-change material, and micro coil layer. Frontier also offers a 365-night sleep trial, 15-year warranty, and lower price tag of $1,299 for a queen size.

Is the Hush mattress cover machine washable?

No, Hush Arctic Luxe’s mattress cover isn’t removable or machine washable. The manufacturer recommends spot-cleaning only, using a solution of baking soda and vinegar.

Where are Hush mattresses manufactured?

Hush manufactures its mattresses in Calgary, Alberta, and Toronto, Ontario.

Is Hush Arctic Luxe good for hot sleepers?

Hush Arctic Luxe is marketed as a cooling mattress with its phase-change material, gel foam layer, and thin graphite layer. However, it lacks advanced cooling technologies that help even the hottest sleepers stay comfortable. Competing hybrid mattress Logan & Cove Frontier also includes phase-change material and a gel foam layer, as well as even more extra-cooling comfort with its nanofibre cover and breathable micro coil layer.

Does Hush Arctic Luxe require a special bed frame?

According to the manufacturer, Hush Arctic Luxe can be used on almost any bed frame, including adjustable bases, platforms, and slatted bases.

What does the Hush Arctic Luxe warranty cover?

The Hush Mattress is covered by a 10-year manufacturer warranty. This covers structural defects to the mattress that shouldn’t happen through normal wear and use.

How long does a Hush mattress last?

A mattress will usually last for about as long as its manufacturer warranty. This means that Hush Arctic Luxe will last you about 10 years, and most hybrid mattresses will last you about 6–12 years in general. Mattresses with longer warranties are generally believed to last longer, like Logan & Cove Frontier with its 15.

What alternatives to the Hush Arctic Luxe should I consider?

Logan & Cove Frontier stands out as a superior alternative to Hush at a lower price point of just $1,299 for a queen size. This top-rated luxury hybrid mattress also has a medium-firm feel and many of the same features as Hush Arctic Luxe.

However, Logan & Cove offers even more advanced cooling features, like a cooling nanofibre cover and breathable micro coil layer. It also comes with a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. And while many Hush mattresses are no longer in production, including Hush Arctic Luxe, Logan & Cove’s luxury mattresses are available now.
