Product Details
The Original Hamuq Hybrid is a Euro-top hybrid mattress. While the website says Hamuq is a pillow-top mattress, the top cover is more consistent with a Euro-top. It stands 12″ tall and has a medium-firm feel, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). The mattress is made in Canada using Canadian materials.
Hamuq features cooling gel foam, individually wrapped pocket coils, zoned support, and perforations to add pressure-point relief and breathability. Hamuq scored well in third-party engineer testing, with good scores for edge support and motion isolation. The mattress cover is not removable or machine-washable. Any stains must be spot-cleaned only.
While Hamuq has a number of features, it lacks some of the advanced cooling features you might expect from a hybrid mattress. It also has very few customer reviews outside of the company website. This makes it difficult to guess what your own experience might be like. In addition, some Trustpilot reviews complain of difficulty with returns and warranty claims.
Ideal For: Side Sleepers, Back Sleepers, Stomach Sleepers
Logan & Cove is rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot and has 4,500+ verified five-star reviews.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Hamuq offers free shipping via FedEx to most locations in Canada. You may be charged delivery fees if you live in the Territories. Your mattress will arrive within 2–7 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. Hamuq doesn’t offer in-home setup as part of delivery, so you’ll have to move the mattress yourself.
Hamuq Original Hybrid comes with a 120-night sleep trial. This is 20 nights longer than the industry-standard 100-night trial. However, it still falls short compared to competing mattress brands like Logan & Cove, which offers a much longer 365-night sleep trial.
Hamuq offers free pickups and full refunds for all mattresses after 30 days. The company also offers a 15-year warranty. That said, some customer reviews on Trustpilot complain of difficulty returning their mattresses and getting warranty claims honoured.
With Logan & Cove, you’ll get a full 365 nights to find out whether it’s right for you.

Hamuq Mattress Construction
Original Hamuq Hybrid stands 12″ tall. It contains 3 distinct layers, not including the Euro-top (which we don’t consider a layer).
- Layer 1: The top layer is 1″ of soft Cloud Tech foam. This provides some softness in the upper portion of the mattress and provides some pressure-point relief.
- Layer 2: The transition layer is 2″ of Cloud Tech comfort foam. It works with the layer above to increase your comfort and support while lying down.
- Layer 3: The support layer is made up of 9″ pocketed coils. These coils are double-tempered high-carbon steel and are individually pocketed to help reduce motion transfer.
All foam used in Original Hamuq Hybrid is CertiPUR-US® certified. However, Hamuq doesn’t publicly share information about specific foam densities.
The hypoallergenic mattress cover is made of cotton, felt, and polyester. The cover isn’t removable or machine washable. You’ll need to carefully spot-treat any spills or stains.
The Euro-top contains polyester fill and comfort foam for a padded, plush surface. Note that despite these softening features, the mattress scored on the firmer side of medium-firm in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us).
MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
6.8 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Original Hamuq Hybrid had a deflection of 2.8″ when laid on, resulting in a 6.8/10 firmness score. This means the mattress is considered medium-firm, but it’s nearing the “firm” category.
7.3 /10
Edge Support
In third-party engineer testing, Original Hamuq Hybrid had a deflection of 4.9″ from a seated position, earning it a score of 7.3/10 for edge support. This is a very good rating. Original Hamuq Hybrid should provide plenty of support while you’re sitting on it, or if you tend to sleep closer to the edge of your bed.
8.0 /10
Motion Isolation
Hamuq Original Hybrid scored 8.0/10 for motion isolation, which is excellent for a hybrid mattress. You’ll be able to sleep without noticing the movements of your partner, kids, or pets.
6.5 /10
Bounce
Hamuq Original Hybrid scored 6.5/10 for bounce. This is above average compared to other hybrid mattresses. You’ll find it easy to move around on the bed and get up after lying down. However, you might find this to be too much bounce if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken.
Need a little less bounce? Logan & Cove Choice has a 5.8/10 bounce rating, striking the perfect balance between comfort and responsiveness.
3.7 /10
Cooling Features
The Original Hamuq Hybrid Mattress has some cooling features to help you sleep cooler. This mattress earns points for its:
- Gel-infused foam which improves body heat dissipation
- Perforated/ventilated foam to permit airflow and enhance breathability
- Layer of pocket coils, which provide some breathability
If you’re looking for a mattress with more advanced cooling features, consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice has individually wrapped steel pocketed coils, a moisture-wicking mattress cover, a layer of breathable hollow fibre and cooling gel, a layer of gel-infused foam, and a layer of breathable Elastex® foam.

Company Background
Hamuq is based in Toronto, Ontario. It was founded in 2016 by Jordan Bedwell and Nathan Nielson. According to the company, Hamuq is the first rollable coil-and-foam mattress made for the bed-in-a-box market.
Outside of the company website, it’s difficult to find many reviews of the Hamuq mattress. At time of writing, the company doesn’t have a Better Business Bureau profile. It’s rated “Poor” on Trustpilot based on mostly one-star reviews. These customer reviews complain of difficulty with product delivery, returns, and warranty claims.
With relatively little consumer feedback to go on, it’s difficult to say for sure whether you would sleep well on a Hamuq mattress.
Frequently Asked Questions
How good is the Hamuq mattress?
Hamuq performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us) and has several good features. Even so, it has few reviews on third-party websites and less than 2,000 reviews on the Hamuq website. This makes it hard to say whether you would enjoy sleeping on a Hamuq. We also can’t recommend buying from a company that’s rated “Poor” on Trustpilot.
That’s why we suggest going with Logan & Cove Choice instead. It has many of the same features, including zoned support, individually wrapped coils, and a layer of cooling gel foam. You also get cooling nanofibres in the top cover, a 365-night sleep trial, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase. Logan & Cove Choice is similarly priced at $999 for a queen size.
How much does a Hamuq cost?
Original Hamuq Original Hybrid costs $699–N/A, depending on what size you choose. Sizes range from twin to California king.
Where is the Hamuq mattress made?
Hamuq manufactures mattresses at its factory in Toronto, Ontario.
How do I return a Hamuq mattress?
If you’d like to return your Hamuq mattress, you can email the company to start the return, arrange pickup, and receive a full refund. That said, some customer reviews on Trustpilot complain of difficulty returning their mattresses and getting warranty claims honoured.
Can you use a Hamuq mattress on an adjustable bed?
Yes, you can use a Hamuq mattress on any adjustable bed. It’s also compatible with other types of bed frames, such as any normal box spring, slatted bed frame, or platform bed.
What Hamuq mattress alternatives should I consider?
We suggest Logan & Cove Choice instead. This mattress features a cooling gel layer, a breathable quilted cover to wick away moisture, and five-zoned support in the coil layer. It’s accessibly priced at just $999 for a queen size. You also get a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.
