Popular GhostBed Mattresses

GhostBed offers a 101-night sleep trial and a money-back guarantee on its mattresses. However, negative customer reviews on third-party sites like Consumer Affairs, Trustpilot, and the Better Business Bureau report problems getting GhostBed to honour returns and warranty claims.

One of the most concerning BBB complaints comes from a customer who purchased a mattress on sale. To return their mattress, this customer needed to pay back the discounts applied to their order. We have also observed GhostBed raising their prices during sales to provide a greater “discount,” meaning customers have to pay a greater amount to return a mattress purchased on sale.

You may be better off choosing Canadian-owned companies like Douglas or Octave. Both brands are rated positively on third-party consumer trust websites, and offer risk-free returns with full refunds.

GhostBed Classic

The GhostBed Classic mattress is a firm foam and latex mattress. It incorporates cooling gel and aerated foam to promote breathability.

While the GhostBed Classic has some interesting materials, it lacks basic features like a machine-washable cover for easy cleaning. And at $2,495 for a queen size, GhostBed Classic is much more expensive than comparable foam mattresses.

GhostBed Luxe

GhostBed Luxe is Ghostbed’s premium cooling all-foam mattress. Retailing at $4,195 for a queen, this mattress features phase-change material, a cooling cover, and gel-infused memory foam.

But even with these cooling features, the high price doesn’t seem justified—especially when competing mattresses offer the same or better features for a much lower price.

GhostBed Radiance is a medium-firm foam mattress from GhostBed that’s sold exclusively by Costco Canada.

Available at $1,199, Radiance has a gel foam comfort layer infused with far infrared materials. GhostBed says this mattress is designed to help with muscle recovery, although this technology isn’t widely researched.

GhostBed Fusion

GhostBed Fusion is a medium-firm hybrid mattress from GhostBed that’s sold exclusively by Costco Canada.

Available at $1,299, Fusion features gel-infused foam, a cooling cover, and pocket coils. Despite these cooling features, this mattress is more expensive compared to competitors which offer the same features. You also need a Costco membership to purchase this mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a GhostBed?

GhostBed is a bed-in-a-box brand owned by Nature’s Sleep and founded in 2015. They’re known for their partnership with famous tennis player Venus Williams, as well as mattress sales that seem to be constantly ongoing.

Are GhostBed mattresses any good?

GhostBed mattresses performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). However, many negative reviews complain about problems with customer service, returns, and product delivery—including not receiving products after paying.

You may prefer Douglas, a combination foam mattress with 16,300+ five-star reviews. Or, if you’re searching for a mattress to keep you extra cool, Octave is another good choice. Both mattresses come with a 365-night sleep trial and offer free returns with full refunds.

Where can I try a GhostBed?

GhostBed has partnered with several retailers in the United States and Canada who offer the chance to try GhostBed mattresses in their showrooms. However, there are relatively few showrooms in Canada with GhostBed mattresses, and a showroom may not have a specific GhostBed mattress in stock.

Where is GhostBed made?

GhostBed manufactures its mattresses in the United States and Central Canada. Most GhostBed mattresses are made in the States, but they will produce in their Toronto and Montreal plants during periods of high demand.

Who owns GhostBed?

GhostBed is privately owned by its parent company, Nature’s Sleep, founded by CEO Marc Werner.

Does GhostBed need a boxspring?

No, GhostBed mattresses don’t require a boxspring. According to the company’s website, you should pair your GhostBed with a slatted wooden mattress foundation, or a sturdy, adjustable bed frame.

How long does GhostBed take to expand?

Ghostbed claims that its mattresses will expand to their normal size as soon as they’re unpacked. However, GhostBed’s warranty states that the company’s mattresses may take 24–48 hours to fully expand, and “may not recover to 100% of their total height.”

Does GhostBed have fiberglass?

Although GhostBed used to manufacture mattresses that used fiberglass, none of the company’s mattresses sold in Canada currently use fiberglass in their construction. It’s always a good idea to check your mattress’s law label before attempting to remove its cover.

How do you return a GhostBed?

GhostBed lets customers return their mattresses after the first 30 nights of the 101-night sleep trial. Returns may be initiated on the company’s website. If you cancel or return an order, a restocking fee plus return freight will be deducted from your refund. Restocking fees are not specified on the company’s Canadian website.

However, the company has received negative press for its return policy and customer service, in contrast to its claim of “hassle-free returns.” The company may also require you to pay back any discount you received on your mattress. This could mean you not only don’t get a refund, but could end up owing money to return the mattress.

Is GhostBed worth it?

GhostBed mattresses are well constructed and have a longer-than-average warranty, but lack features that might add to their long-term value. They’re also much more expensive than comparable mattresses that offer more features for a lower price. For example, a queen-size GhostBed Luxe costs $4,195, while cooling mattress Octave Horizon has more advanced features and costs just $1,499 for a queen size.

In addition, GhostBed’s 101-night sleep trial is only slightly above the industry average. The company has also received negative customer reviews and press coverage about issues with GhostBed’s customer service.

What GhostBed mattress alternatives should I consider?

We recommend Douglas Original and Octave Horizon.

Douglas Original is a mattress with a machine-washable cover, cooling gel foam, above-average edge support, and superior motion isolation. A queen-sized Douglas Original mattress costs just $799, and it comes with a risk-free 365-night sleep trial and a 20-year warranty.

If you’re looking for a cooling mattress, consider Octave Horizon. This memory foam mattress has advanced cooling technology like phase-change material, copper-infused memory foam, and a machine-washable mattress cover made with cooling nanofibres. Octave Horizon comes with a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, all for just $1,499 for a queen size.

Both mattresses come with free shipping, free return pickup with full refunds, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.
