Product Details
Dormeo One stands 11″ tall and comes in two firmness options: medium and firm. We purchased the medium mattress for this review. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the medium version actually has a firm feel. It also has excellent edge support and above-average motion isolation. That said, at $3,699 for a queen size, Dormeo One is priced much higher than other mattresses with similar features.
This mattress’s most notable feature is its Octaspring technology. This eight-sided, all-foam “spring” moves independently in three directions to provide support and pressure-point relief. Dormeo claims that their springs are 8 times more breathable than traditional foam. The company doesn’t provide any information to back up this claim. It’s also not clear why the company wouldn’t simply use metal coils, which are even more supportive and breathable.
Dormeo One’s hypoallergenic mattress cover is made of polyester, rayon, and spandex. While the cover has a zipper, the mattress’s law label states that you shouldn’t remove it. This means the cover is not machine washable. You’ll need to spot-clean any stains. While the mattress has an industry-standard 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, Dormeo has a separate 1-year warranty for the mattress cover.
Consider the competing Douglas Summit mattress instead. It has a balanced medium-firm feel, multiple advanced cooling technologies, a moisture-wicking top cover made with cooling nanofibres, advanced pressure-point relief, and best-in-class motion isolation. Summit also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase—all for just $1,299 for a queen size

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Dormeo One is available from Sleep Country Canada. Sleep Country offers free shipping for orders over $75 to most Canadian locations. Your order should reach your doorstep in 3–10 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. If you live in the Territories or Newfoundland and Labrador, delivery takes 7–10 days and costs $120.
The mattress arrives fully expanded and wrapped in plastic. You then have 100 nights to decide whether you want to keep your Dormeo mattress.
However, Sleep Country doesn’t provide refunds for mattress returns. You can only exchange your mattress for in-store credit. Expect to pay a $65 exchange fee to cover the costs of switching mattresses. If you exchange Dormeo for a more expensive mattress, you’ll need to pay the difference.
Even if you trade the mattress for a less expensive model, you still won’t get a refund. You’ll have to spend the remaining balance on furniture, accessories, or other Sleep Country products. Sleep Country also doesn’t offer home pickups for returns. You will need to bring the mattress back to the store yourself.
Dormeo’s 10-year warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It explicitly doesn’t cover normal wear and tear or incidental damage, including during transit. A separate one-year warranty applies specifically to Dormeo One’s cover, and only covers manufacturing defects. This could potentially be cause for concern, given that the mattress is wrapped only in a sheet of plastic when it’s delivered.
In comparison, Douglas Summit offers a 365-night sleep trial and a 20-year warranty. You can return the mattress for a full refund with free return pickup. Your mattress is then donated to a local charity or recycled, depending on what options are available in your area.
Take your time to get to know your bed with Douglas Summit’s 365-night sleep trial.

Dormeo One Mattress Construction
Dormeo One stands 11″ tall and contains 3 layers of foam. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified. However, Dormeo does not disclose information about specific foam densities.
- Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 1″ of Dormeo’s recovery foam, a type of polyurethane memory foam that contours to the shape of your body as you lie on the mattress.
- Layer 2: The middle (transition) layer is 3″ thick. It consists of 2″ Octasprings sandwiched between 0.5″ foam sheets. Dormeo says these “springs” are designed to move in three dimensions to conform to your body and provide pressure-point relief. While this is a unique feature, it doesn’t seem to offer more value than traditional metal coils.
- Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 7″ of dense polyurethane support foam. This foundation maintains the mattress’s structure and support, ensuring you won’t sink too far into the upper layers.
Dormeo One’s hypoallergenic mattress cover is made of polyester, viscose (rayon), and spandex. Sleep Country states that the mattress cover contains phase-change material and TENCEL™, although the law label on the mattress we received doesn’t list either. These materials are known for being cool to the touch. However, polyester and spandex aren’t designed for cooling and could in fact trap heat.
Although the cover has a zipper, it’s not machine washable. Dormeo recommends against removing it. You’ll need to spot-clean any spills or stains.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

7.3 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Dormeo One’s deflection was only 2.3″ when laid on, contributing to its firmness score of 7.3/10.
This places the mattress in the firm category. We purchased the medium version for this review, which means Dormeo One is much firmer than advertised. You may find that this mattress is too firm for your needs, especially if you sleep on your side. The company also heavily promotes its Dormeo Canada mattress topper, which you can purchase for added plushness and pressure relief.
(Looking for a medium-firm mattress that’s ideal for every sleep style? Try Douglas Summit with its firmness score of 6.7/10.)

9.3 /10
Edge Support
Although foam mattresses usually don’t have good edge support, Dormeo One’s deflection from a seated position was only 2.8″, giving it an excellent edge support score of 9.3/10. Dormeo One will provide very good support if you sit on the edge of the bed, or if you sleep farther away from the middle of the mattress.
7.2 /10
Motion Isolation
Dormeo One earned a score of 7.2/10 for motion isolation, which is very good for a foam mattress. You should be able to sleep without noticing most of your partner’s movements.
(Want a mattress with even greater motion isolation? Consider Douglas Summit with its best-in-class motion isolation score of 8.8/10.)
5.5 /10
Bounce
Dormeo One earned a bounce score of 5.5/10. This is slightly above average for a foam mattress. You shouldn’t have any difficulty changing sleep positions or getting up after lying down.
(Need a mattress with less bounce for a more restful and undisturbed sleep? Consider Douglas Summit with its slightly lower bounce score of 3.0/10.)

1.7 /10
Cooling Features
Dormeo One isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, but it does have a few features that promote cooling and breathability. This mattress earns points for its:
- TENCEL™ cover, which promotes better airflow
- Phase-change material incorporated into its mattress cover, which helps to dissipate heat
- Octaspring technology, which Dormeo claims is more breathable than traditional foam
If you want more advanced cooling features at a lower price, consider Douglas Summit. Designed for enhanced temperature regulation, it features a moisture-wicking CoolSense® cover woven with cooling nanofibres, ecoLight® cooling gel foam infused with phase-change material, and a breathable Elastex® foam layer to promote airflow. Douglas Summit offers exceptional cooling at just $1,299 for a queen size, compared to $3,699 for Dormeo One.

Company Background
In 1998, Dormeo was founded as ADO Limited by Nino Tomšič. The company’s first foam mattress was produced in Italy in 2002. Dormeo expanded into the United Kingdom in 2009 and debuted its Octaspring technology in 2011. In 2023, the Dormeo brand (along with several others) was purchased by the newly incorporated Dormeo AG. In August of that year, former owner Studio Moderna Holdings filed for bankruptcy in Slovenia.
There are no reviews of Dormeo’s Canadian operations at time of writing. Dormeo’s North American division is rated “A+” on Better Business Bureau. The Trustpilot profile for Dormeo’s UK division is rated “Great”. However, customer complaints on Better Business Bureau, Trustpilot, and other third-party review websites mention quality issues with Dormeo mattresses, including sagging and degradation.
Since Dormeo mattresses in Canada are sold through Sleep Country, you would be dealing with Sleep Country’s customer service to arrange returns or warranty claims. Note that Sleep Country’s online reputation is much poorer than Dormeo’s. Sleep Country is rated “A+” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Poor” on Trustpilot. Customer reviews complain of issues with the company’s exchange policy, customer service, and warranty claims.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Dormeo mattresses good?
The Dormeo One mattress we ordered performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). However, the mattress has a higher-than-average price tag considering the limited features it provides. You should consider Douglas Summit, which offers more advanced cooling features, a balanced medium-firm feel, greater motion isolation, and a longer sleep trial and warranty for just $1,299 for a queen size.
How much does a Dormeo mattress cost?
The Dormeo One mattress costs $3,299–$4,699 at Sleep Country, depending on the size you choose. It’s available in sizes ranging from twin to king. A queen-size Dormeo One mattress costs $3,699.
Do I need a Dormeo mattress topper?
You shouldn’t need a mattress topper to get comfortable sleep. In fact, a topper can reduce the effectiveness of your mattress’s key features, such as pressure-point relief and cooling technology. Dormeo Canada offers its own Dormeo mattress topper, possibly as a complementary accessory to its mattresses. However, if you find yourself relying on a topper for comfort, it may be a sign that your mattress isn’t the right fit for your needs.

Can you flip a Dormeo mattress?
No. Despite their all-foam construction, no Dormeo mattresses available in Canada are meant to be flipped.
How long does a Dormeo mattress last?
Sleep Country Canada has a 10-year store warranty. Dormeo Canada also has its own 10-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. That said, customer reviews suggest that Dormeo mattresses can sag or degrade after just a few years. Sleep Country also has a number of customer reviews on BBB and Trustpilot that complain of difficulty getting warranty claims honoured.
The Dormeo mattress cover has a separate 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. This is important to note because Sleep Country’s warranty doesn’t cover any damage to the mattress cover. If you have issues with the Dormeo mattress cover after its warranty expires, neither Dormeo or Sleep Country will honour a warranty claim for it.
Where are Dormeo mattresses made?
Dormeo says it manufactures mattresses for North American customers in Plano, Texas, and Winchester, Virginia. However, the law label on the mattress we ordered tells a different story. The foam core was made in Vietnam and the cover was made in China.
(Looking for a Canadian-made mattress? Consider the Canadian-made Douglas Summit mattress.)

Where can I buy a Dormeo mattress?
Dormeo is available for in-store purchase or online from Sleep Country Canada. You may also be able to find Dormeo mattresses through mattress resellers.
(Looking for a Canadian mattress that can be conveniently purchased online for a more affordable price? Shop Douglas Summit.)
Who owns Dormeo?
The Dormeo brand is currently owned by Dormeo AG. The brand was previously owned by Studio Moderna, a retailer that owned several other brands. Studio Moderna mostly operated in Central and Eastern Europe. In August 2023, Studio Moderna filed for bankruptcy in its home nation of Slovenia.
How do I return a Dormeo mattress?
Dormeo mattresses purchased in Canada must be returned to Sleep Country. You won’t receive a refund for your mattress, even if you return it within the 100-night sleep trial period. Sleep Country only offers store credit for the value of your mattress, minus a $65 exchange fee. If you exchange your Dormeo mattress for a more expensive model, you’ll have to pay the difference.
In comparison, competing mattress brand Douglas provides a risk-free 365-night sleep trial. You get free mattress pickup and a full refund if you return your mattress within the trial period.
What Dormeo mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend Douglas Summit. At $1,299 for a queen size, this high-quality foam mattress offers more features for a lower price. Summit features a moisture-wicking, machine-washable top cover made with cooling nanofibres, more advanced cooling features like phase-change material and cooling gel foam, and enhanced pressure-point relief. It comes with a free bedding bundle, a 20-year warranty, and a 365-night sleep trial with full refunds and free return pickups.
