Mattress Breakdown

Both Octave Vista and Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione are memory foam mattresses with cooling features. But that’s where the similarities end.

Octave provides advanced cooling features like a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre mattress cover, copper-infused memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material, and multi-zone support foam with air channels for breathability. The mattress is much more affordably priced than Chill Trio Dione at just $899 for a queen size. Octave also has a longer 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.

In comparison, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has limited cooling features—only a cooling gel memory foam layer and a cover made with cooling yarn. Despite these limited features, the mattress is priced much higher than Octave at $3,299 for a queen size. The Sealy mattress only comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty.

Chill Trio Dione doesn’t just fall short on cooling features and value. This mattress doesn’t have enough reviews on third-party websites to assess whether it’s worth the price tag. Sleep Country’s website has only a few reviews of this mattress, with none more recent than 2022. Sealy as a brand also has few reviews outside of its own website, and it’s rated “Poor” on Trustpilot and “B-” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau. (Octave is rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot and “A+” on BBB.)

To help you choose between Sealy vs Octave, we’ve gathered all the information you need to accurately compare these two mattresses. You’ll note that Chill Trio Dione’s overall rating of 3.7/10 is considerably lower than Octave’s 9.7/10. That’s because the Sealy mattress has a high price tag, few features, restrictive return policies, and a poor online reputation.

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Octave Vista scored 6.8/10 for firmness. Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione scored a little lower at 6.2/10.

Both mattresses fall into the medium-firm category. Medium-firm mattresses are ideal for all sleep styles, meaning you should find this level of firmness comfortable whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach. That said, Octave’s premium foam layers and multi-zone support take this comfort to the next level with a combination of cushioning, support, and pressure-point relief.

Edge Support

Foam mattresses aren’t typically known for having high edge support. However, both Octave and Sealy are above-average in this regard. Octave Vista scored 7.5/10 for edge support, and Chill Trio Dione scored 8.5/10. Either mattress will allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed, and you should have no trouble getting out of bed in the morning.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation helps you enjoy a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by a restless partner, kids, or pets. Chill Trio Dione has an above-average motion isolation score of 7.1/10. But if you’re looking for a little extra motion isolation, you may prefer Octave Vista with its higher rating of 7.3/10. You can expect to sleep soundly and not notice any movement from the other side of the mattress.

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. Low bounce is a good thing if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken, while higher bounce is ideal if you often change sleep positions.

All-foam mattresses typically score low for bounce. Chill Trio Dione earned a bounce score of 2.9/10. This is quite low, meaning you could have some difficulty changing sleep positions. If you’re looking for more spring and responsiveness, consider Octave Vista with its higher bounce score of 3.7/10.

Choose the mattress with the better pressure-point relief, motion isolation, and bounce.

Octave Vista has 3 layers of foam for a cool, comfortable night’s sleep. Its construction includes copper-infused memory foam treated with temperature-balancing PolarMAX® phase-change material, Elastex® foam for additional spring and support, and multi-zoned support foam with air channels for breathability.

In comparison, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has only 2 interior layers of foam. This is unusual for a mattress with such a high price tag. Chill Trio Dione also lacks the advanced features we would expect to see for a cooling mattress at this price point. This is concerning because memory foam is known for sleeping hot. The gel infusion in the top layer may not be enough to balance the heat-trapping properties of memory foam.

Sealy also doesn’t share any information about the ChillActive™ technology in the top layer, so it’s not clear how much cooling this layer can provide.

Octave Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: Octave Vista’s top (comfort) layer is 2″ of copper-infused memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material for temperature balancing. This layer is designed to pull heat and sweat away from your body for a cooler sleep. Copper is a natural conductor and antimicrobial metal, which is intended to maintain the cleanliness of the mattress.
  • Layer 2: The responsive, body-contouring transition layer is 2″ premium Elastex® foam that has the same springy feel as natural latex. Its additional bounce makes it easier for you to shift positions in the bed for a more comfortable sleep.
  • Layer 3: Octave’s support layer is 8″ of high-density, multi-zone support foam. This ultra-durable layer has five pressure-relief zones to support every area of your body. It also has breathable air channels to let warm air escape and allow cooler air to enter the mattress.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 3″ of cooling gel memory foam. This layer shapes itself around your body as you lie down. Foam density is unknown.
  • Layer 2: The bottom (support) layer is 8″ of higher-density foam, although exact foam density is unknown. In addition to acting as the mattress’s foundation, the rigidity of this layer prevents you from sinking too far into the mattress.

Octave Vista’s top cover is infused with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, which give the sleep surface a refreshingly cool feel. This fabric wicks away moisture from your body throughout the night. The top cover is also removable and machine washable for easy cleaning in case of spills and stains.

Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has a top cover containing cooling yarn, which is meant to absorb and dissipate heat. Although the cover has a zipper, it isn’t machine washable. You’ll need to carefully spot-treat any spills or stains.

Keep temperatures comfortable with Octave’s exceptional cooling features.

Octave Vista ships by ground from Ontario or Alberta using FedEx. Your order should arrive in 3–10 business days and is delivered directly to your door throughout most parts of Canada. Additional fees may apply for some remote locations.

If you buy Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione from Sleep Country (like we did), it ships for free and your order should arrive within 3–5 business days. You can choose between standard delivery or upgraded Green Glove Delivery, which includes moving the mattress to a specific room, setting up the mattress, and removing your old mattress and any packaging. It’s worth noting that Chill Trio Dione can also be purchased from Best Buy and Walmart, but the order will still be fulfilled by Sleep Country.

Octave provides a generous 365-night sleep trial so you can try the mattress at home. If you choose to return your mattress within the trial period, Octave will pick up returns for free and provide a full refund.

In comparison, the Sealy mattress comes with a much shorter sleep trial of just 100 nights. This sleep trial has far more conditions and restrictions than Octave’s. If you want to return your Sealy mattress during the sleep trial, you’ll have to bring it back to the store yourself. You also won’t receive a full refund, only store credit—minus a $65 exchange fee.

Sealy provides a 10-year mattress warranty. This warranty length is standard for the mattress industry. However, Octave goes above and beyond with a much longer 15-year warranty.
