Both Octave Vista and Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione are memory foam mattresses with cooling features. But that’s where the similarities end.

Octave provides advanced cooling features like a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre mattress cover and copper-infused memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material. Its five-zoned support foam layer also provides targeted pressure-point relief for a good night’s sleep. The mattress is much more affordably priced than Chill Trio Dione at just $899 for a queen size and comes with a longer 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.

In comparison, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has limited features—only a cooling gel memory foam layer, cooling cover, and three-zone support. Despite these limited features, the mattress is priced much higher than Octave at $2,399 for a queen size. The Sealy mattress only comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty.

Chill Trio Dione doesn’t just fall short on features and value. This mattress doesn’t have enough reviews on third-party websites to assess whether it’s worth the price tag. Sleep Country’s website has only a few reviews of this mattress, with none more recent than 2022. Sealy as a brand also has few reviews outside of its own website, and it’s rated “Poor” on Trustpilot and “B-” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau. (Octave’s parent company is rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot and “A+” on BBB.)

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Octave Vista scored 6.8/10 for firmness. Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione scored a little lower at 6.2/10.

Both mattresses fall into the medium-firm category. Medium-firm mattresses are ideal for all sleep styles, meaning you should find this level of firmness comfortable whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach. That said, only Octave comes with five-zoned ergonomic support that’s engineered for greater cushioning and pressure-point relief, soothing your sore muscles and joints while you sleep.

Edge Support

Foam mattresses aren’t typically known for having high edge support. However, both Octave and Sealy are above-average in this regard. Octave Vista scored 7.5/10 for edge support, and Chill Trio Dione scored 8.5/10. Either mattress will allow you to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed, and you should have no trouble getting out of bed in the morning.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation helps you enjoy a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by a restless partner, kids, or pets. Chill Trio Dione has an above-average motion isolation score of 7.1/10. But if you’re looking for a little extra motion isolation, you may prefer Octave Vista with its higher rating of 7.3/10. You can expect to sleep soundly and not notice any movement from the other side of the mattress, which is important if you’re a light sleeper.

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. Low bounce is a good thing if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken, while higher bounce is ideal if you often change sleep positions.

All-foam mattresses typically score low for bounce. Chill Trio Dione earned a bounce score of 2.9/10. This is quite low, meaning you could have some difficulty changing sleep positions. If you’re looking for more spring and responsiveness, consider Octave Vista with its higher bounce score of 3.7/10.

Vista contains a layer of Elastex® foam, which lets you change positions without any difficulty. This foam layer is designed to be contouring as well as responsive, and works with the mattress’s five-zone support system to give you a supportive, restful sleep throughout the night.

Cooling Features

Foam can be known to trap heat, so most modern foam mattresses incorporate cooling features to help ensure breathability and airflow. Octave achieves this by incorporating features such as CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres in the mattress cover, PolarMAX® phase-change material, a layer of CopperGel™ infused memory foam, and breathable Elastex® foam. These elements earned Octave Vista a cooling features score of 7.2/10. 

Sealy Posturepedic Chill Trio Dione, also a foam mattress, received a cooling features score of just 2.4/10. Despite being promoted as a cooling mattress, it only has two known cooling features, which include the mattress cover made with cooling yarn, and a layer of gel-infused memory foam. These scores indicate you’re more likely to have a cooler and more comfortable sleep on an Octave Vista.

Mattress Construction

Octave Vista has 3 layers of foam. Its construction includes copper-infused memory foam treated with temperature-balancing PolarMAX® phase-change material, Elastex® foam for additional spring and support, and multi-zoned ergonomic support foam to relieve tension on your muscles and joints.

In comparison, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has only 2 interior layers of foam. This is unusual for a mattress with such a high price tag. Chill Trio Dione also lacks the advanced features we would expect to see for a cooling mattress at this price point. This is concerning because memory foam is known for sleeping hot. The gel infusion in the top layer may not be enough to balance the heat-trapping properties of memory foam.

Sealy also doesn’t share any information about the ChillActive™ technology in the top layer, so it’s not clear how much cooling this layer can provide.

Octave Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: Octave Vista’s top (comfort) layer is 2″ of CopperGel™ memory foam treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material, which adapts to seasonal temperature changes. This layer contours around your body, providing immediate relief from strain on your muscles and joints. Copper is also an antimicrobial metal and helps promote a clean, fresh sleep surface while transferring heat away from your body.
• Layer 2: Vista’s transition layer is 2″ of premium Elastex® foam, which is designed to be breathable and responsive. This specialized foam layer has the same springy feel as natural latex with the same pressure-relieving feel. The added bounce also makes it easier for you to change sleep positions.
• Layer 3: The support layer is 8″ of high-density foam divided into a unique five-zoned support system. This layer provides contouring support for your body, with added support beneath your back, hips, and knees. This innovative design reduces discomfort and stiffness while caring for your body and aiding in its natural recovery.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 3″ of cooling gel memory foam. This layer shapes itself around your body as you lie down. Foam density is unknown.
• Layer 2: The bottom (support) layer is 8″ of higher-density foam, although exact foam density is unknown. In addition to acting as the mattress’s foundation, the rigidity of this layer prevents you from sinking too far into the mattress.

Octave Vista’s top cover is infused with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, which give the sleep surface a refreshingly cool feel. This fabric wicks away moisture from your body throughout the night, and is machine washable for easy cleaning. Octave uses premium and high-durability foams in all its mattresses, and they’re manufactured without fiberglass or toxic chemicals.

Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Chill Trio Dione has a top cover containing cooling yarn, which is meant to absorb and dissipate heat. Although the cover has a zipper, it isn’t machine washable. You’ll need to carefully spot-treat any spills or stains.

It’s worth noting that Chill Trio Dione can also be purchased from Best Buy and Walmart, but the order will still be fulfilled by Sleep Country.

Octave provides a generous 365-night sleep trial so you can try the mattress at home. If you choose to return your mattress within the trial period, Octave will pick up returns for free and provide a full refund.

In comparison, the Sealy mattress comes with a much shorter sleep trial of just 100 nights. This sleep trial has far more conditions and restrictions than Octave’s. If you want to return your Sealy mattress during the sleep trial, you’ll have to bring it back to the store yourself. You also won’t receive a full refund, only store credit—minus a $65 exchange fee.

Sealy provides a 10-year mattress warranty. This warranty length is standard for the mattress industry. However, Octave goes above and beyond with a much longer 15-year warranty.
