Which Is Better: Casper or Logan & Cove?

Logan & Cove and Casper are two popular mattress brands available in Canada. Logan & Cove Choice comes with advanced cooling features, luxury details, premium construction, and a three-zoned coil system for a more luxurious sleep experience. It also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, 15-year warranty, and free bedding bundle—all for just $999 for a queen size.

In comparison, Casper Atlas is the brand’s entry-level hybrid mattress and costs $1,199 for a queen size, despite lacking the cooling and comfort features found in Logan & Cove. Casper comes with only a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, and it doesn’t come with a bedding bundle. Overall, Casper provides less value at a higher price point, which is why Logan & Cove is the clear winner.

Firmness

When tested by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), Casper Atlas and Logan & Cove Choice were both classified as medium-firm. Casper Atlas received a firmness score of 6.5/10. The Casper website doesn’t specify how soft or firm this mattress is meant to be, so it’s hard to say if this mattress performed true to its intended firmness.

Logan & Cove, on the other hand, received a firmness score of 6.9/10. This mattress is slightly firmer but is still designed to be medium-firm, making it true to its advertised firmness level. Logan & Cove’s zoned coil system gives it additional support to ensure proper spinal alignment throughout the night while also relieving pressure points.

Edge Support

Logan & Cove and Casper both performed very well for edge support. Both mattresses include foam wall encasement to provide extra support at the edge of the mattress, resulting in a 7.5/10 edge support score for Logan & Cove, and 7.8/10 for Casper. You should be able to sit comfortably on the edge of either mattress (or sleep farther away from the middle) without worrying about falling off.

Motion Isolation

While inner coils are often known for poor motion isolation, hybrid mattresses also use layers of foam and other materials that soften your partner’s movements. This reduces motion transfer and can provide a more restful sleep.

Casper Atlas received an excellent motion isolation score of 8.0/10. Logan & Cove Choice also performed well with a score of 7.5/10. You shouldn’t feel large movements on either mattress, helping you sleep undisturbed.

Bounce

Mattresses with coil systems tend to have above-average responsiveness and bounce. Casper Atlas scored well above average at 6.8/10, which could be good if you enjoy a very responsive mattress.

However, if you prefer a more consistent sleep surface, and a balance between responsiveness and motion isolation, you may prefer Logan & Cove Choice with its lower bounce score of 5.8/10 bounce score.

Cooling Features

Since foam is known for heat trapping, many modern mattresses include cooling properties to help balance temperatures throughout the night. Pocket coil construction allows for better air circulation than mattresses made with strictly foam, but that may not be enough on its own to keep a sleeper feeling cool and comfortable.

Casper Atlas received a cooling feature score of just 1.8/10. It received some points because of its innerspring system and its Cozy Knit cover, which is designed for breathability despite being 99% polyester. Although Atlas is Casper’s value hybrid mattress, we’d expect greater cooling at a price point of $1,199 for a queen size.

In comparison, Logan & Cove Choice received a higher cooling feature score of 4.4/10. On top of its zoned pocket coil system which allows for airflow, Choice earned points for its layers of gel-infused foam and breathable Elastex® foam, as well as a top cover mage with cooling nanofibres, breathable hollow fibre fill, and more cooling gel foam. At $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove delivers better temperature regulation than Casper, and at a lower price.

Logan & Cove Choice and Casper Atlas are both 4-layer medium-firm hybrid mattresses available in Canada. Choice is made in Canada and stands 12″ tall, while Casper Atlas is American-made and 10″ in height.

Logan & Cove Choice Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The first layer is 1″ of breathable hollow fibre fill and cooling gel-infused foam. It’s quilted directly under the tight-top cover, providing a degree of plushness and directly dissipating your body heat when you’re lying down.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam. This foam layer provides excellent comfort and pressure-point relief, conforming to your body’s shape while also wicking away heat and moisture.
  • Layer 3: The third layer is 1″ of Elastex® foam. This layer contours around your body, providing latex-like responsiveness and pressure relief, but without any of the allergy-causing chemicals in many natural latex mattresses.
  • Layer 4: The support layer is 9″ of individually pocketed coils. Made of double-tempered steel, these coils are divided into 3 body-supporting zones to give contouring support for your back and hips. This layer is also encased with 4″-thick edge support foam along the sidewalls to give you more support when sitting on your bed, or lying farther away from the middle.

The Logan & Cove mattress features luxury detailing that often isn’t available in beds at its accessible price point of $999 for a queen size. Breathable hollow fibre-fill and cooling gel foam are tufted under a CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre cover to help regulate temperatures throughout the night.

Although the cover isn’t removable for washing, your purchase will come with a free mattress protector (and more) to help guard your mattress from spills and stains.

Casper Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The top layer is 1.5″ of polyurethane foam. This layer is designed to add plushness as you lie down on the mattress.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is 1.5″ of Casper’s transition foam, which stops you from feeling the denser support layer beneath. Casper says this foam also provides pressure-point relief but doesn’t explain how.
  • Layer 3: The third layer is 6″ of individually pocketed metal coils, reinforced with edge support foam along the sidewalls. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and stops you from sinking into the mattress too deeply while you’re lying down.
  • Layer 4: The bottom layer is 1″ of support foam. This acts as a foundation for the coil layer, and protects the mattress and bed frame from damaging each other.

Casper Atlas’s mattress cover is made from their Cozy Knit material—99% polyester and 1% spandex. The company describes the Cozy Knit cover as breathable, although that isn’t one of polyester’s strong suits.

The Atlas mattress has a zipper, and the law label says the top portion of the cover can be machine-washed, but the Casper website says not to remove the cover for any reason. To be safe, we recommend spot-cleaning this mattress only.

Choose Logan & Cove and enjoy a plush, cooling mattress cover.

Casper and Logan & Cove both ship their mattress compressed and rolled up in a cardboard box. The bed-in-a-box mattress has become exceedingly popular over the years because of its added convenience.

Logan & Cove mattresses will arrive at your door 2–11 business days after placing your order. Casper may take a bit longer, and will arrive in 5–15 business days. While both companies offer free shipping to most locations in Canada, an additional fee may apply for addresses in the Canadian territories or other remote areas.

Once you receive your mattress, your sleep trial will begin. You’ll get 100 nights with your Casper to decide if you’d like to keep or return it. With Logan & Cove, you’ll have 365 to try out the mattress in the comfort of your own home—nearly four times as long as Casper’s sleep trial.
