This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

When comparing Endy vs Endy Hybrid vs Douglas, all three mattresses have a medium-firm feel. However, all three mattresses offer varying levels of firmness within that category. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), The Endy scored 5.7/10 for firmness, while Endy Hybrid earned 6.1/10. Both mattresses have a slightly softer feel with more “hug.”
In comparison, Douglas Original earned a 6.7/10 firmness score, putting it toward the higher end of medium-firm. This makes it supportive enough to comfortably accommodate all sleep styles, whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach.
Though foam mattresses typically aren’t known for great edge support, Douglas Original performed much better than average with a score of 7.8/10. You can sit comfortably on the edge of this mattress or sleep further away from the middle without worrying about sinking into the sidewalls.
The Endy earned an edge support score of 7.3/10, which is good—but not as good as Douglas. Endy Hybrid scored the lowest of the three mattresses at 6.0/10. This is a little surprising since hybrid mattresses typically have better edge support than foam mattresses.
If you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken by disturbances on the other side of the bed, motion isolation is essential for a good night’s sleep. Douglas Original has an excellent motion isolation score of 8.3/10, beating out both The Endy and Endy Hybrid. If you sleep with a partner, children, or pets, you’ll enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep without any interruptions.
The Endy earned a motion isolation score of 7.4/10, while Endy Hybrid scored slightly lower at 7.2/10. These are both respectable motion isolation scores, but again, they still fall short compared to Douglas.
Bounce is a matter of preference. A mattress with higher bounce makes it easy to change positions, but you could be woken by your partner’s movements. Lower bounce, on the other hand, ensures a more consistent sleep surface for a more restful sleep.
The Endy has a bounce score of 5.5/10, which is about average for a foam mattress. Endy Hybrid has a bounce score of 5.4/10. This is average for a hybrid mattress, too, but it’s still the highest score of the three.
Douglas has the lowest bounce score of all three mattresses at 3.1/10. Paired with Douglas’s superior motion isolation, you should be able to sleep through most disturbances. That said, you’ll still find it easy to change sleep positions. This is because of the mattress’s layer of Elastex® foam, which has the same responsive properties as latex.
A comfortable sleep surface is important for getting a good night’s sleep, and temperature is a major factor when it comes to comfort.
The Endy earned a very low cooling feature score of 0.8/10. Its only cooling feature is a layer of open-cell foam, which is a little more breathable than closed-cell foam.
Endy Hybrid also has a layer of open-cell foam, as well as a layer of coils that promote airflow. This earned the mattress a slightly better cooling feature score of 2.0/10. However, neither mattress offers features that are known to provide active cooling benefits.
In comparison, Douglas Original scores the highest of the three mattresses at 4.2/10. It receives this score thanks to its moisture-wicking CoolSense® cover, layer of ecoLight® cooling gel foam, and layer of breathable Elastex® foam. These features ensure breathability and temperature control so you don’t wake up sweating.

Douglas Original and The Endy are all-foam mattresses containing three layers for comfort, transition, and support. Endy Hybrid is a hybrid mattress that contains four layers, one of which is a layer of coils.
Endy only discloses that its proprietary comfort foam is 100% polyurethane. Douglas is transparent about its mattress construction, including the 2.5 lb/ft³ foam density.
Both Douglas Original and The Endy have machine-washable covers made with polyester and spandex. However, Douglas’s cover also includes plant-based Infinitex™ fibres for added breathability and moisture-wicking properties. Endy Hybrid’s cover isn’t removable due to its Euro-top construction, so it can only be spot-cleaned.

Endy mattresses come with an industry-standard 100-night sleep trial. Douglas offers a much more generous 365-night sleep trial—almost four times as long. This lets you try the mattress in all seasons and temperatures to make sure your mattress will give you a good night’s sleep all year long.
Both Douglas and Endy will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period and issue a full refund. Simply contact the Douglas or Endy customer service team to coordinate your return. Both companies will either donate your returned mattress to a local charity or recycle it, depending on the options available in your community.
Endy provides an industry-standard 10-year warranty to protect your mattress. You can extend this warranty by another five years if you sign up for the company’s email newsletter. In comparison, Douglas offers a 20-year warranty. That’s twice as long as Endy’s normal warranty, and still longer than the company’s extended warranty—without any added conditions.
