Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Douglas Original scored a 6.7/10 for firmness. The Endy scored 5.7/10, and The Casper scored 6.3/10. All three mattresses fall into the medium-firm category, making them suitable for a wide range of sleep styles.

Douglas has the highest firmness score of the three mattresses, providing a supportive feel with a minimal amount of “hug.” This balanced level of firmness promotes proper spinal alignment and ensures long-lasting comfort, making it a standout choice for sleepers who need extra support without sacrificing comfort.

Edge Support

Foam mattresses aren’t generally known for good edge support, but Douglas stands out with an exceptional edge support score of 7.8/10. Douglas offers a stable and secure feel, whether you’re sitting or lying near the edge—no wobbling or fear of slipping off.

Looking at the Casper mattress vs Endy, the Casper mattress has an above-average edge support score of 7.5/10, while Endy performed the lowest at 7.3/10. Douglas firmly outperforms both, offering the best support for anyone who wants to maximize their mattress’s usable surface area.

Motion Isolation

If you’re comparing Casper vs Endy vs Douglas for motion isolation, Douglas Original is the clear winner. With an impressive score of 8.3/10, Douglas minimizes disturbances from a restless partner, kids, or pets, letting you enjoy peaceful, uninterrupted sleep.

Endy scored above average with 7.4/10, while Casper earned the lowest score of the three mattresses with 6.6/10. Both scores are good, but neither one matches Douglas’s standout performance. For the best motion isolation and truly restful sleep, Douglas is the top choice.

Bounce

Low bounce is essential for light sleepers who are easily disturbed. Douglas scored just 3.1/10 for bounce—the lowest of all three mattresses. This low bounce is a direct result of its high motion isolation score, which should help reduce disruptions and ensure peaceful sleep.

In contrast, Casper scored 5.5/10, and Endy had the highest bounce score of the three mattresses with a score of 4.7/10. While both mattresses provide around average bounce, you may prefer Douglas Original if a consistent sleep surface is important to you.

Cooling Features

When it comes to cooling features, Douglas Original stands out with the highest cooling features score of 4.2/10. Douglas is designed with a CoolSense® cover, an ecoLight® cooling gel foam layer, and a layer of breathable Elastex® foam. These features work together to promote airflow, dissipate heat, and keep you cool throughout the night.

In comparison, Endy includes just one cooling feature—an open-cell foam layer—which earned it a score of 0.8/10. Casper scored 2.5/10, thanks to its open-cell foam and perforations in the comfort layer for improved airflow.

With more advanced cooling features than either Endy or Casper, Douglas Original offers a cooler and more comfortable sleep environment, making it the best option for hot sleepers.

Douglas, Endy, and Casper are all combination foam mattresses containing three layers for comfort, transition, and support.

Douglas Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The 2″ top layer of the Douglas mattress is made of ecoLight® cooling gel foam. It’s just as durable, comfortable, and body-contouring as memory foam, minus the late-night heat. It’s also more eco-conscious.
  • Layer 2: The 2″ middle layer is made of Elastex® foam for extra spring and support. This foam is latex-free, making it a good option if you’re sensitive to latex.
  • Layer 3: The 6″ bottom layer is made of motion isolation support foam. This means you’ll hardly feel a thing from the other side of the bed, even if your partner is tossing and turning all night long.

Douglas features a machine-washable, stretch-knit cover made with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres. This soft, durable fabric is designed to stay cool and breathable, ensuring you sleep comfortably without overheating.

Endy Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The 2″ comfort layer is made of Endy Comfort Foam, which provides some “hug” with a fair bit of sink. Endy also claims that the foam’s open-cell design improves airflow and keeps you cool while you sleep.
  • Layer 2: The 3″ transition layer of foam helps provide pressure relief for a more comfortable, tension-free sleep.
  • Layer 3: The 5″ support layer is designed to reduce motion transfer. This is important if you’re a light sleeper and your partner tosses and turns in their sleep.

The Endy mattress features a two-toned cover with a white, diamond-knit top and durable grey fabric at the base. Made mostly of polyester with a touch of Spandex for stretch, the cover is machine washable for easy upkeep, though these materials aren’t known for their breathability.

Casper Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer includes 1″ of polyurethane foam, which uses open-cell perforations to enhance airflow. Casper says this feature promotes comfort and regulates body temperature during sleep.
  • Layer 2: The middle (transition) layer is 2″ of body-contouring memory foam. This supports your body and prevents long-term sagging in the middle of the mattress. However, memory foam is known for heat trapping, and there aren’t any advanced cooling features to cancel out that effect.
  • Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 7″ of dense polyurethane support foam. This foundational component maintains the mattress’s structure and support, ensuring that you won’t sink too far into the upper layers.

The Casper mattress cover combines recycled polyester, upcycled cotton, rayon, and lycra. Despite having a zipper, the cover isn’t designed to be removed and isn’t machine washable. While these materials offer durability and a snug fit, they may not be as breathable as those found in Douglas Original.

Additional fees may apply for remote locations. It’s also worth noting that Casper doesn’t currently ship mattresses to the Canadian Territories.

Douglas ships from Ontario or Alberta with a shipping time of 2–10 business days. Endy ships from Ontario or Alberta in 1–10 business days. It’s unclear from where Casper ships its mattresses, or how long it takes, but Casper also sells through select retail locations in Canada.

All three companies ship their mattresses in cardboard boxes, protected by two layers of heavy-duty plastic. Once unrolled, the mattresses fully expand within a few minutes. All three mattresses are sleep-ready on delivery day.

Douglas, Endy, and Casper will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period and issue a full refund. Simply contact the customer service team to coordinate your return. All three companies will donate your returned mattress to a local charity in your area.

But when you’re comparing sleep trial and warranty for Casper vs Endy vs Douglas, only Douglas offers a 365-night sleep trial—one of the longest in Canada. Endy and Casper only offer the industry-standard 100-night trial. Additionally, Douglas comes with a 20-year warranty, which is much longer than Endy and Casper’s 10-year warranty coverage.
