Which Is Better: Logan & Cove or DreamCloud?

DreamCloud and Logan & Cove are both well-known mattress brands, but Logan & Cove offers the best value for a similar price. Canadian mattress Logan & Cove Choice is designed with advanced cooling features and three-zoned ergonomic support for a comfortable, supportive, and luxurious sleep. Logan & Cove has a generous 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. A queen mattress is priced at just $999, and it comes with a free bedding bundle for even more value.

In comparison, DreamCloud has limited features and benefits.  While it also offers a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty, this mattress doesn’t have thicker-gauge steel coils in the middle to help support your hips and keep your spine aligned. DreamCloud lacks advanced cooling features to ensure nighttime comfort, but still costs $899 for a queen size. You also may not receive the product quality and customer service you expect, considering DreamCloud’s “Poor” rating on Trustpilot.

Firmness

Comparing the Logan and Cove mattress vs DreamCloud, DreamCloud is considered a medium to medium-firm mattress. DreamCloud also doesn’t have thicker-gauge steel coils in the middle section of the mattress, which would help support your hips and keep your spine aligned. This means you will sink partway into the mattress when you lie down and you could find it harder to change sleep positions.

Logan & Cove Choice is a medium-firm mattress with less “hug,” which will help you change sleep positions more easily. It also has three-zoned support, with thicker coils to support your hips, thinner coils for shoulders and knees, and reinforced coils around the mattress edge. This provides cushioning, spinal alignment, and targeted support. The mattress gently contours around your body with minimal sinking, for a comfortable and supportive sleep.

Edge Support

Hybrid mattresses are generally known for good edge support. However, in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), DreamCloud scores only average for edge support at 5.7/10. This is surprising because the mattress has thicker steel coils around the perimeter that should provide more support.

In comparison, Logan & Cove Choice earned a much higher edge support score of 7.5/10. You’ll be able to sit comfortably on the edge of the mattress without it dipping too far down, and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting out of bed.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation helps you enjoy a restful night’s sleep without being disturbed by movement from your partner, kids, or pets. Hybrid mattresses typically provide less motion isolation than foam mattresses due to the responsive inner coils.

DreamCloud earned a motion isolation score of 5.9/10, which is average for a hybrid. However, Logan & Cove scored much higher with a very good score of 7.5/10.

Bounce

While bounce is more of a preference, it can also be a good indication of how easily you can shift sleep positions and whether you might sink into or feel “stuck” in a mattress. Hybrid mattresses typically have lower bounce, but the DreamCloud mattress scored a below-average bounce rating of 3.9/10—a lower rating than comparable hybrid mattresses.

Logan & Cove Choice has a higher bounce rating at 5.8/10. But thanks to the mattress’s higher high motion isolation score, you’re less likely to be disturbed by a restless partner or pets. The responsive Elastex® transition layer and multi-zoned support foam will also help you shift sleep positions more easily.

Cooling Features

Hybrid mattresses are more breathable due to their coils, which promote airflow. While DreamCloud isn’t promoted as a cooling mattress, it has some cooling features, including gel-infused foams and pocketed coils. With these features, DreamCloud earned a cooling feature score of  1.8/10

If you prefer a mattress with more advanced cooling features, consider Logan & Cove Choice. This mattress has features such as a cooling top cover with gel-infused foam, CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, a layer of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, Elastex® foam (a breathable open-cell foam similar to latex), and pocketed coils. All these features earned this mattress a cooling feature score of 4.4/10. These scores indicate you’re more likely to have a cooler and more comfortable sleep on a Logan & Cove Choice.

Both Logan & Cove Choice and DreamCloud are hybrid mattresses with foam and coil layers for comfort, transition, and support.

The DreamCloud mattress is 14″ tall, latex-free, and hypoallergenic. It contains 5 layers: four foam layers and one pocket coil support layer. In comparison, Logan & Cove Choice is 12″ tall, with a top layer of breathable hollow fibre fill and cooling gel, a layer of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, an Elastex® foam transition layer, and a support layer made up of three zones of individually wrapped pocket coils

Logan & Cove Choice Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The first layer is 1″ of breathable hollow fibre fill and cooling gel-infused foam. It’s quilted directly under the tight-top cover, providing a degree of plushness and directly dissipating your body heat when you’re lying down.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam. This foam layer provides excellent comfort and pressure-point relief, conforming to your body’s shape while also wicking away heat and moisture.
  • Layer 3: The third layer is 1″ of Elastex® foam. This layer contours around your body, providing latex-like responsiveness and pressure relief, but without any of the allergy-causing chemicals in many natural latex mattresses.
  • Layer 4: The support layer is 9″ of individually pocketed coils. Made of double-tempered steel, these coils are divided into 3 body-supporting zones to give contouring support for your back and hips. This layer is also encased with 4″-thick edge support foam along the sidewalls to give you more support when sitting on your bed, or lying farther away from the middle.

DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The 1.5″ comfort layer is made of plush polyurethane foam that supports and cushions your body. It’s stitched into the quilted top cover. The foam density is unknown.
  • Layer 2: This layer contains 1″ of viscoelastic polyurethane foam, also known as gel-infused memory foam, which contours to the shape of your body while you sleep. Memory foam is known for trapping body heat, and some customer reviews state DreamCloud sleeps hot. The foam density is unknown.
  • Layer 3: DreamCloud says the 2″ transition layer of polyurethane foam helps promote spinal alignment and soften the transition from memory foam to pocket coils. Foam density is unknown.
  • Layer 4: This layer is made up of individually wrapped 8.5″ stainless steel pocket coils, with thicker coils around the perimeter to provide better edge support, improve airflow, and reduce motion transfer.
  • Layer 5: The 1″ support layer is made of polyurethane foam to provide stability and structure for the top layers. The foam density is unknown.

DreamCloud’s breathable cashmere blend cover is made of 68% polyester, 31% rayon, and 1% cashmere. The cover can’t be removed, and you’ll void the warranty if you try. We weren’t able to find any information on the composition of the bottom and side cover composition, or on the density of DreamCloud’s foam layers.

Logan & Cove is completely transparent about its mattress construction, material composition, and 2.5 lb/ft³ foam density. Logan & Cove Choice has a plush quilted top cover with diamond tufting, infused with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres. Combined with the breathable hollow fibre fill and gel-infused foam in the mattress’s top layer, the cooling nanofibres give the mattress a cool-to-the-touch feeling.

In comparing the Logan and Cove mattress vs DreamCloud, both mattresses ship by ground for free using FedEx. Additional fees may apply for some remote locations. You’ll want to do your homework on the total cost to deliver to your door with DreamCloud, since shipping costs seem to vary. DreamCloud doesn’t deliver to Nunavut.

Logan & Cove Choice ships from Ontario or Alberta and arrives at your doorstep in 2–11 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. We were unable to determine the location of DreamCloud’s Canadian distribution centres. However, DreamCloud has an exclusive Canadian retailer distribution agreement with Leon’s, which has retail stores and distribution centres across Canada. The company’s website states that different mattresses and sizes have different shipping times, with a range of 2-7 business days.

With both companies, your mattress is delivered directly to your door throughout most parts of Canada. Logan & Cove Choice is shipped in a cardboard box and protected by two layers of heavy-duty plastic. DreamCloud is rolled and shipped in heavy-duty plastic, minus the box. Logan & Cove Choice expands within minutes but may take up to 24 hours to fully expand and be sleep-ready, which is typical for a hybrid mattress. DreamCloud takes up to 72 hours to expand.

Both Logan & Cove Choice and DreamCloud come with a 365-night sleep trial, which is considerably longer than the industry average. Logan & Cove has a 15-year warranty, while DreamCloud advertises a lifetime warranty.

However, DreamCloud has numerous consumer complaints on independent review sites like the Better Business Bureau, Trustpilot, and Reddit for product quality and getting the company to honour its sleep trial refund. DreamCloud has also been fined by the FTC in the US for repeated false advertising. In comparison, Logan & Cove has over 4,500+ verified, five-star reviews, a Better Business Bureau rating of “A+”, and an “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot.

Both companies will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period and issue a full refund. Logan & Cove donates gently used mattresses to local charities, while DreamCloud’s website says it will work with the customer to get the item donated or disposed of through local organizations within the customer’s community.
