Douglas is the clear winner. Douglas is rated “A+” on Better Business Bureau and “Excellent” on Trustpilot. Douglas is made in Canada and has better edge support, superior motion isolation, greater cooling features, and a competitive price at just $799 for a queen size. It also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, 20-year warranty, and free bedding bundle with purchase.
Nectar, on the other hand, has many poor customer reviews on Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot. This mattress is owned and distributed by Resident Home. The FTC has fined Resident for repeatedly making false claims about manufacturing its mattresses entirely in the US. In fact, it’s currently made in Mexico.

This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Douglas Original’s strong sidewalls can easily support your full body weight. Douglas scored an above-average 7.8/10 for edge support—considerably higher than similar foam mattresses. You should be able to sit safely and comfortably on the side of the bed without falling off.
Nectar earned a much lower edge support score of 1.9/10. This low score could be a dealbreaker if you regularly sit on the edge of the bed.
Foam mattresses are known for good motion isolation. Douglas delivers in this area with an excellent motion isolation rating of 8.3/10. A score this high translates to a restful sleep, even when you share the bed with a restless partner. It also makes Douglas one of our highest-scoring mattresses for motion isolation, with Douglas Alpine and Douglas Summit scoring even higher.
Nectar scored a 5.0/10, which is average for a foam mattress. This means you may feel some of your partner’s movements throughout the night.
A lower level of bounce is common for foam mattresses. Both Douglas and Nectar have a low level of bounce, with Douglas scoring 3.1/10 and Nectar scoring 3.6/10. If you’d prefer as little bounce as possible, Douglas is the better option.
Most modern foam mattresses incorporate cooling features to help ensure breathability and airflow for comfortable sleep. Douglas and Nectar both feature cooling elements in their foam layers—but some mattresses have more features than others.
Nectar Original earned a cooling features score of 2.4/10 because of its cool-to-the-touch cover and gel-infused foam layer.
Douglas Original earned a higher coolign feature score of 4.2/10. Douglas’s moisture-wicking CoolSense® cover, layer of ecoLight® cooling gel foam, and layer of breathable Elastex® foam all contributed to this score. Douglas is the better choice if you’re looking for a refreshing mattress to keep temperatures balanced as you sleep.

Various deliver Nectar mattresses anywhere in Canada. Nectar Original is made in Mexico and should arrive within 3–7 business days, including time taken to dispatch the order. Douglas ships mattresses from Ontario or Alberta using FedEx, so you should receive your order within 2–10 business days, including dispatch time.
Douglas and Nectar arrive in a cardboard box. After you remove them from their plastic wrapping, both mattresses expand to their full height in minutes. You can sleep on the mattress the same night. It’s important to note that when our Nectar mattress arrived, it had already been boxed up for nine months before delivery.
Douglas and Nectar both offer a 365-night sleep trial. This is one of the longest trials available in Canada. Both companies will pick up returns for free and issue a full refund within the sleep trial period.
Nectar offers a “Lifetime” warranty. However, customers have left reviews on Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot where they report difficulties going through Nectar’s warranty process. This warranty excludes mattresses that haven’t been opened within 90 days of delivery. Nectar Original also doesn’t have features that could help you keep your mattress in good condition for longer, like a machine-washable cover.
In contrast, Douglas offers a 20-year warranty and comes with a machine-washable cover. Douglas also provides a free mattress protector in their bedding bundle to help you protect your mattress from accidental spills. This bedding bundle is free with every mattress purchase.
