Good edge support allows you to sit comfortable on the edge of a mattress or lie farther away from the middle. Douglas Original earned a very good edge support score of 7.8/10, while Bloom Cloud scored lower at 5.7/10.
Motion isolation helps you enjoy a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by a restless partner, kids, or pets. Douglas Original has an excellent motion isolation score of 8.3/10, while Bloom Cloud scored an above-average 6.8/10. You shouldn’t notice much movement from the other side of the bed with either mattress, but it’s worth noting Douglas Original’s higher score.
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. Low bounce is a good thing if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken, while higher bounce is ideal if you often change sleep positions. Both Bloom and Douglas scored below average for bounce. This is typical for all-foam mattresses. Bloom Cloud earned a bounce score of 3.3/10, while Douglas scored slightly lower at 3.1/10.
Douglas Original and Bloom Cloud both offer cooling features to help sleepers stay comfortable throughout the night. Bloom Cloud earned a cooling feature score of 4.4/10. This is due to its organic cotton cover with copper infusion, gel-infused foam, synthetic latex foam, and aerated foam layers.
Douglas Original earned a slightly lower cooling feature score of 4.2/10. This is due to its moisture-wicking CoolSense® cover, layer of ecoLight® cooling gel foam, and layer of breathable Elastex® foam, all of which promote cooling and air circulation.
