What are the best pillows in Canada?

From down fill to memory foam, there are many different types of pillows for you to choose from. Your pillow should contour around your body, be the right height for your sleep style, and fit your budget.

The Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow is our pick for the best pillow in Canada. It contains individual pieces of cooling gel memory foam that can be added or removed to adjust the pillow’s height. The pillow’s customizable support makes it a great choice for a wide range of body types and sleep styles.

It comes with a machine-washable outer shell, a 120-night sleep trial, and a 3-year warranty. It’s also more affordably priced than many other pillows, at just $89 for a standard size.

Best Overall

Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow

Sleep experts at MattressReview.ca rate the Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow as the best pillow in Canada, thanks to its contouring support, customizable experience, and ideal fit for any sleep style.

Finding the perfect pillow is as essential as picking the right mattress, yet it’s not always easy to know where to start. Your sleeping position, body weight, and comfort preferences all play a role in determining which pillow will give you the best night’s sleep.

The right pillow depends on your sleep style. Side sleepers usually need a high-loft pillow for spinal alignment, while back sleepers do well with medium-loft, and stomach sleepers benefit from a low-loft option. Materials and budget also play a role in your decision.

We’ve purchased pillows from popular retailers in Canada and have objectively rated them based on our first-hand impressions, our industry knowledge, and the features that are most important to you, like comfort, support, and value.

Logan & Cove

Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow

Standard $89

Rather than an old-school block of solid memory foam, the Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow is filled with precisely cut cooling gel memory foam. The precision cutting means that the memory foam filling doesn’t clump, and the materials can shift and contour around your body.

Since these pillows are adjustable, you can customize the loft (height) to suit your personal preference. The pillow comes with a machine-washable cotton outer shell that complements the cooling properties of the cooling gel memory foam filling.

The Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 3-year warranty, and free shipping. It’s also more affordably priced than many other pillows, at just $89 for a standard size.

Juno

Juno Down Alternative Pillow

Standard $129

The Canadian-made Juno Down Alternative Pillows have a microgel filling that provides a plush, fluffy feel similar to the softness of a down pillow. Plus, the microgel filling is made without using animal products, making it a kinder and cruelty-free option.

The pillow’s low to medium height (low to mid loft) makes it ideal for a wide range of sleepers. It features a 400-thread-count cotton cover that’s spot-clean only, but the hypoallergenic materials are a nice touch. The pillows are Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified and Global Recycle Standard certified.

What really sets Juno Down Alternative Pillows apart from other pillows is their value. Juno sells its pillows in a 2-pack, while many other retailers sell their pillows individually. These pillows also come with a 120-night sleep trial and a 3-year warranty.

Douglas

Douglas Gel Memory Foam Pillow

Standard $99

Fed up with flipping your pillow to find a cool spot? The Douglas Cooling Gel Pillow provides lasting comfort and keeps you cool, perfect for hot sleepers.

It features a solid memory foam filling that conforms to support your neck and head. This solid memory foam block has a heat-dissipating gel pad to prevent overheating. This pillow’s cover is machine washable and also made with CryoFusion™ cooling yarn, which makes it feel soft and cool to the touch.

The pillow’s lower loft makes it more suitable for stomach and back sleepers. Compared to other cooling gel pillows, the Douglas Cooling Gel Pillow is reasonably priced at $99 for a standard size. It also comes with a 120-night sleep trial and a 3-year warranty.

Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow

Queen $299

The Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow is a memory foam pillow featuring a solid block of Tempur memory foam. Its medium loft makes it suitable for back and side sleepers. Our testers found that the pillow provided good contouring and felt cool to the touch.

The top portion of the outer shell is a polyester and polyethylene blend, and the bottom is made with polyester and spandex. With a segmented outer shell, sleepers may feel less inclined to flip their pillow, which could reduce its longevity. The outer shell also isn’t machine-washable, so you’ll have to spot-clean it.

Priced at $299 for a queen-size pillow, the Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow comes at a significantly higher price tag than the other pillows on this list. While it comes with a 10-year warranty, it doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Sleep Country only provides returns and exchanges within 30 days for unopened and unused accessories.

IKEA

IKEA KLUBBSPORRE

Queen $69

Due to its shape, IKEA KLUBBSPORRE is marketed as an ergonomic pillow. It’s made with a solid block of memory foam, is topped with a gel layer on both sides, and has a unique bean shape.

The pillow’s machine-washable outer shell is made of polyethylene and polyester. Our reviewers noted that it felt very smooth and cool to the touch. The foam provides good contouring, and its low loft makes this pillow suitable for side and back sleepers. That said, not all sleepers may be fans of the pillow’s unique shape.

Priced at $69 for a queen pillow size, IKEA KLUBBSPORE is affordably priced for an ergonomic pillow. However, you’ll have to either purchase the pillow in-store or use the company’s pick-and-collect service. IKEA doesn’t ship pillows and smaller items directly to customers.

The pillow also doesn’t seem to come with a sleep trial or product warranty, but you can use IKEA’s return policy. This policy allows you to return new and unopened products within 365 days. Opened and unused products can be returned within 90 days, but this is at the discretion of IKEA staff.

Endy

Endy Customizable Pillow

Standard $85

Endy’s Customizable Pillow has a shredded memory foam filling, which can be added or removed to your preference. This allows you to adjust the height of the pillow and allows for more contouring.

That said, our reviewers found that the pillow we received for this review appeared to be under-stuffed. It came with noticeably less filling than the Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow. Your experience could be different, but for our reviewers, the fully filled pillow only provided a medium loft—less than ideal if you prefer a higher loft.

The cotton outer shell is machine washable, making these pillows easy to maintain. They have a 3-year warranty but come with a shorter-than-average sleep trial of just 60 nights, compared to Logan & Cove’s 120-night pillow trial.

Casper

Original Casper Pillow

Standard $89

The Original Casper Pillow is a down alternative pillow with polyester microfiber fill that mimics the plushness of down. It has a medium-loft design, which makes these pillows suitable for back sleepers, and a machine-washable cotton outer shell for easy maintenance.

While the cotton outer shell provides some breathability, polyester is not known for its cooling abilities. You may find that these pillows don’t live up to Casper’s claims that they are breathable and keep you cool throughout the night.

Our reviewers noted the fabric material felt thin, which is disappointing considering its price tag of $89 for a standard pillow—more expensive than average for a single-down alternative pillow. The pillow also comes with only a 30-night sleep trial and a 1-year warranty. In comparison, Juno’s Down Alternative Pillows come in a 2-pack, with a 120-night trial and a 3-year warranty.

Silk & Snow

Silk & Snow Eco Soy Pillow

Standard $199

The Silk & Snow Eco Soy Pillow is a memory foam pillow with a perforated polyurethane memory foam core. While Silk & Snow states that the foam is infused with soy oil, the pillow’s law label didn’t include this in its list of materials.

These pillows are available in two firmness options: firm and soft. The pillows that we received didn’t have any marking on the label, so it’s not clear which firmness option we received. That said, our reviewers found our pillow to be quite firm and doesn’t have much sink. The combination of firmness and medium loft make this pillow best suited for side and back sleepers.

The pillow’s outer shell is made from polyester and Tencel™ (also known as lyocell, a plant-based semi-synthetic fibre). Polyester provides durability, while Tencel™ offers softness and breathability. Tencel™ is also hypoallergenic.

The outer shell is removable and machine washable for added convenience. The pillows come with a 3-year warranty and a 100-night sleep trial. However, they’re also considerably more expensive than other memory foam pillow options at $199 for a queen-size pillow.

Layla

Layla Pillows

Queen

Similar to other memory foam pillows on this list, Layla Memory Foam Pillows have shredded filling, allowing you to adjust your pillow to suit your sleep needs. These pillows are also machine-washable for added convenience. The outer shell is made of polyester, which our reviewers commented felt soft and cool to the touch.

However, the pillow filling is a combination of shredded memory foam and polyester fibres. Our reviewers found this slightly disappointing given that a queen-size pillow costs $127 (converted from USD). Additionally, with the amount of filling that’s provided, these pillows can only reach a medium loft.

It’s important to note that Layla doesn’t ship to Canada for free. If you plan to purchase mattresses and pillows from Layla, you’ll need to pay a shipping fee of $250 USD. The Layla website also doesn’t include currency anywhere, so it’s not clear that you paid in USD until the cost appears on your credit card.

GhostBed

GhostPillow Gel Memory Pillow

Standard $179

Advertised as “The Coolest Pillow in the World,” the gel memory foam GhostPillow is a solid block of moulded and perforated polyurethane memory foam topped with phase-change material. It has an inner mesh cover and is wrapped in the Ghost Ice Cover, which has an unknown composition.

The pillow’s low loft makes it suitable for stomach and side sleepers, but it’s not ideal for back sleepers or those who prefer a mid-to-high loft. The outer shell is made of polyethylene and polyester and is machine-washable for added convenience.

The pillow is regularly priced at $179, which is on the higher end for a memory foam pillow. However, like their mattresses, GhostBeds pillows are regularly offered at a discounted price. This sounds appealing, but GhostBed requires you to pay back any discounts for items you return. GhostBed is also rated “Bad” on Trustpilot, with complaints that include false advertising, poor product quality, and difficulty arranging refunds or returns.
