15The Original Hamuq Hybrid is a Euro-top hybrid mattress. While the website says Hamuq is a pillow-top mattress, the top cover is more consistent with a Euro-top. It stands 12″ tall and has a medium-firm feel, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). The mattress is made in Canada using Canadian materials.
Hamuq features cooling gel foam, individually wrapped pocket coils, zoned support, and perforations to add pressure-point relief and breathability. Hamuq scored well in third-party engineer testing, with good scores for edge support and motion isolation. The mattress cover is not removable or machine-washable. Any stains must be spot-cleaned only.
While Hamuq has a number of features, it lacks some of the advanced cooling features you might expect from a hybrid mattress. It also has very few customer reviews outside of the company website. This makes it difficult to guess what your own experience might be like. In addition, some Trustpilot reviews complain of difficulty with returns and warranty claims.

15S&S Hybrid has a 12″ profile with 3 layers of foam and coils. Depending on whether you choose the medium-firm or plush version, this mattress has a medium-firm to medium level of firmness. The latest version of S&S Hybrid provides good motion isolation. While its edge support is above average, we noted a significant decrease in edge support compared to the previous version.
Silk & Snow advertises that the mattress’s non-removable cover has antimicrobial properties. However, the law label on the mattress we purchased only lists polyester as a cover material. There is no other publicly available information that indicates how the cover has antimicrobial properties.
Polyester is also known for its durability but isn’t commonly known as a breathable fabric, so you could find that the mattress cover traps heat throughout the night. To get a cooling cover, you’ll have to upgrade to the plush version of S&S Hybrid for an extra $550. However, this pricey upgrade still doesn’t match cooling features found in other hybrids like Logan & Cove Choice.

10Emma’s flagship and entry-level mattress is the Emma Original mattress, which is allegedly made in the US. However, the law label on the mattress we purchased for testing indicated that it was made in Mexico.
Emma Original features a 3-layer design. It also uses Airgocell® and Halo Memory Foam™ to keep your body cool while providing pressure relief. Despite these exciting names, however, there are no details on the Emma website to communicate what makes these foam layers unique.
You may notice that Emma Original always seems to be on sale, and might wonder how much Emma marks up its products. Emma’s price cutting has previously been investigated by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, and was found to mislead customers with permanent “sales.”
Emma Original’s regular price is $942 for a queen size. This is more expensive than comparable Canadian-made foam mattresses like Douglas.

The Endy has three firmness options: the medium-firm base model, a firm model, and a plush model that’s available for an extra $200. The medium-firm model we purchased for this review is $895 for a queen size. This price is about average for a foam mattress.
However, many other mattresses at this price point offer more features. The Endy doesn’t have many advanced cooling features. It only comes with an industry-average 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, with the option to extend this warranty to 15 years if you sign up for their email list.
Looking for more features at a lower price point? Consider Canadian competitor brands like Douglas instead. With more cooling features, a 365-night sleep trial, and a 20-year warranty, Douglas may be a better option at a lower price of $799 for a queen size.

(The plush version also has the same layer composition, but the thicker layers add an inch to the mattress’s height, whereas the firm version has thinner layers, resulting in a shorter mattress.) According to tests run by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the medium-firm Endy foam mattress is on the lower end of the medium-firm category. It has very good edge support and motion isolation.
Endy claims that its top cover is breathable. However, according to Endy’s website, this cover is 97% polyester, which is not known to the most breathable material. And while the mattress contains open-cell comfort foam, which helps promote a certain amount of airflow, the mattress lacks further cooling features. This can be a concern since foam can trap heat, which could lead to potential overheating. This is why many modern mattress brands include more cooling features in all-foam mattresses.
Looking for a slightly firmer mattress with more cooling features for a lower price? You may want to try Douglas Original. Douglas has a moisture-wicking cover infused with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres, a layer of ecoLight® cooling gel foam, and a layer of open-cell Elastex® foam. Its layer construction includes foam and coil layers, meant to provide additional support if you’re the kind of sleeper who needs it. For this review, we ordered the Medium version.
Haven LUX Hybrid stands 14″ tall, with the pocket coil layer and micro coil layer accounting for 10″ of that height. The remaining four layers, not including the quilted mattress cover, are less than 1″ thick each. While these layers should work together to provide comfort and support, they may not be thick enough to provide all of the contouring, cooling, and spine-aligning features that Haven promotes.
This mattress offers very good motion isolation and an above-average level of bounce. However, edge support is lower than average for a hybrid. This is surprising given Haven LUX Hybrid’s reinforced foam edges.

Atlas’s cover is made of polyester, polypropylene, and a small amount of spandex. Although the law label says that the top part of the cover is machine washable, Casper says not to remove the cover for any reason. The zipper on the cover is included as part of the manufacturing process and is not designed to be unzipped. Any spots or stains should be spot-cleaned only.
This mattress is notably heavy, especially for a hybrid. A queen-size Casper Atlas weighs 148 lb and requires two people to move. The mattress also doesn’t have handles on the sides for easy transportation. This may not be ideal if you have trouble lifting heavy items or have to move the mattress to another part of your home.
In comparison, competitor mattress Logan & Cove Choice is much lighter and costs significantly less at $999 for a queen size. It comes with several additional features, including a cooling nanofibre cover, cooling gel-infused foam, and hypoallergenic latex-like Elastex® foam.
