Popular Sleep Country Mattresses

Sleep Country Canada mattresses include some of the most recognizable brands, like Beautyrest, Bloom, Kingsdown, Sealy, Serta, and Tempur-Pedic. The company  sells a variety of mattress types, including foam, innerspring, and hybrid mattresses.

Beautyrest logo

Beautyrest is a hybrid mattress brand owned by Serta Simmons Bedding. Sleep Country sells several different Beautyrest models, all of which are made in Canada.

Beautyrest is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot. The company also has an “F” (unaccredited) rating on BBB, which has issued a “Pattern of Complaint” alert about issues with product quality and customer service.

Bloom logo

Bloom is a bed-in-a-box brand owned by Sleep Country. All mattresses in the Bloom lineup are made of foam and come in a range of different budget models.

While they’re affordable, only a handful of Bloom mattresses are made in Canada. Customer reviews on Reddit note that Bloom mattresses also get softer over time, and there are complaints about product durability and quality.

Casper logo

Casper is known for its association with the Target Corporation and celebrities like Ashton Kutcher. Sleep Country acquired Casper’s Canadian operations in 2023 and sells a limited range of the company’s mattresses.

Some versions of Casper’s mattresses are known to contain fiberglass. One customer review on BBB complained of leaking fiberglass, even though the law label didn’t list it as a material.

Hush logo

Hush is a Canadian company that entered the bedding industry with its weighted blankets. Sleep Country acquired a majority share of Hush in late 2021. The company only produces one mattress model, the Hush Graph-Iced Mattress.

Hush is rated “F” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Bad” on Trustpilot. Many Hush customer reviews report not receiving ordered products, and not being refunded for missing orders.

Kingsdown logo

Kingsdown is based in North Carolina, and has operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. The company is owned by a private equity group and only sells its mattresses through third-party retailers like Sleep Country.

Kingsdown is rated “A+” with the BBB, but only has a customer review score of 1.62/5 stars. Customer reviews complain of Kingsdown mattresses being too firm and sagging after a relatively short period of time.

Sealy logo

Founded in the 1880s, Sealy merged with Tempur-Pedic in 2012 to become Tempur Sealy International. Sleep Country sells Sealy’s Posturepedic Optimum product line.

Warranties can vary widely between Sealy models, and it’s not clear which warranty you have until you check a mattress’s law label. Sealy is also rated “Poor” on Trustpilot, with complaints of shipping issues and poor product quality.

Serta logo

Serta is an American company and a subsidiary of Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC, one of the world’s biggest mattress companies. Sleep Country offers the Perfect Sleeper and iCool Eco product lines.

Serta is rated “F” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Poor” on Trustpilot. The company has poor reviews about customer service and quality issues, including mattresses sagging soon after purchase.

Simba logo

Simba Sleep launched in 2015 and is based in the United Kingdom. The company’s Canadian products are made in Canada and sold exclusively through Sleep Country.

While Simba is rated “A+” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot, some reviews have complained of dips and ridges forming in their mattress after the sleep trial ended.

Tempur-Pedic logo

In 2012, memory foam mattress brand Tempur-Pedic merged with the Sealy Corporation to become the world’s largest bedding company. Sleep Country sells several models of Tempur-Pedic mattresses.

Tempur-Pedic is rated “B” (unaccredited) on BBB and “Bad” on Trustpilot. Customer complaints mention problems with returns, warranty claims, and customer service.

Tuft & Needle logo

Tuft & Needle was founded in 2012. After achieving early success with selling mattresses through Amazon, Tuft & Needle expanded into an online bed-in-a-box brand. The brand merged with Serta Simmons Bedding in 2018 and currently sells its Original mattress through Costco Canada.

Tuft & Needle is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot. Numerous customer reviews on Amazon also complain of problems with sagging, heat trapping, and back pain.

Is Sleep Country the best place to buy your next mattress?

Sleep Country may have a catchy jingle and a recognizable name, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good place to buy a mattress. Here are a few reasons why you should reconsider buying a mattress from Sleep Country:

  • The company only offers a 100-night sleep trial. That’s not enough time to know if your mattress will work for you. In comparison, some mattress companies like Douglas offer a 365-night sleep trial to make sure you love your mattress. Sleep Country’s trial also isn’t a true sleep trial—read the next bullet point to learn more.
  • Sleep trials don’t come with refunds. You won’t get your money back if you return a mattress purchased through Sleep Country. The company only offers store credit that you can put toward a different mattress, with a $65 exchange fee. If your replacement mattress costs more than the original mattress, you have to pay the difference in price.
  • There’s no pickup service for returns. To return a Sleep Country mattress, you have to bring it back to the store yourself—even if you ordered the mattress online. This can be difficult if you don’t have access to a truck or live far away from the nearest store.
  • The company has poor online reviews. Sleep Country Canada only has a customer review rating of 1.32/5 stars on BBB and is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot. Common complaints include issues with customer service, especially when making warranty claims.
  • Product information is limited. Sleep Country’s online mattress listings leave out important details like materials, quality, construction, layer thickness, and foam density. You’ll need to do your homework and read reviews, including those on Trustpilot, Better Business Bureau, and r/mattress, to get the full picture of a mattress before you buy.
  • Your new mattress might not be that new. Mattresses must be stored carefully to avoid damage, and bed-in-a-box mattresses in particular shouldn’t stay boxed for long. We have received mattresses from Sleep Country that were stored in boxes for an extended period of time. And you won’t know when a mattress was made until you check the manufacturing date on its law label.
  • Available products and prices change frequently. Often, mattresses that were available just months ago are no longer sold. Prices for specific mattresses can change with no notice, and Sleep Country doesn’t share original mattress pricing during sales. That makes it hard to compare mattresses and see how much value you’re getting, whether you’re shopping online or in-store.

You’re better off picking a mattress that comes with a longer sleep trial with fewer restrictions. Choose a mattress company with a strong online reputation and a permanent product line with consistent pricing. This makes it easier to find the right mattress and know you’re getting good value with your purchase.

Douglas Original is a foam mattress that comes with a 20-year warranty and a 365-night sleep trial, complete with free return pickup and full refunds. Your Douglas mattress even comes with a free bedding bundle—just one reason why Douglas has 16,300+ five-star reviews. The company is also rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot and “A+” on BBB.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Sleep Country mattresses good?

Of the 10 mattress brands we tested and reviewed that are currently available through Sleep Country, none earned an overall rating higher than 7.0/10. If you’re in search of a quality mattress, try Douglas Original, which earned an overall rating of 9.9/10.

Douglas is our number-one pick for the best mattress in Canada. It offers superior motion isolation and edge support, a cooling top layer, a machine-washable mattress cover, and a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for any sleep position. Douglas has all the features you’re looking for at an accessible price of $799 for a queen size.

Does Sleep Country deliver mattresses?

Sleep Country offers free delivery on all orders over $75. The company says it will call you in advance and give you a three-hour delivery window, so you won’t have to wait at home all day. If you upgrade to Green Glove Delivery for an extra $45, your order will be delivered to the room of your choice, along with bed setup and removal of the old mattress, base, and packaging.

In the market for the best mattress-in-a-box? Many bed-in-a-box brands—including Douglas—don’t require you to be home to receive your order. You can track delivery status and receive your mattress with the same ease as any other online order.

What is the Sleep Country return policy?

Mattresses and box springs fall under Sleep Country’s “100-Night Comfort Guarantee.” You have a one-time option to exchange your mattress for another one after using it for 21 nights of the 100-night sleep trial. You’re required to pay a $65 exchange fee, plus any cost difference between the mattress you’re returning and the one you’re taking.

If the mattress you’re returning is more expensive, you’ll only get in-store credit minus the fee. It’s not clear how long this credit remains usable, so verify that before you complete your purchase. Sleep Country also doesn’t service Newfoundland and Labrador or the Territories, meaning you’ll have to contact customer service to discuss return options if you live in those areas.

Want hassle-free, risk-free orders and returns, along with a much longer sleep trial and the option to return a mattress after you’ve opened it? Consider ordering directly from a Canadian bed-in-a-box company like Douglas instead.

What is the Sleep Country mattress warranty?

Sleep Country doesn’t offer its own mattress warranty, but provides an online tool to help customers deal directly with mattress manufacturers for warranty claims. Warranties may differ by model and manufacturer.

Do Sleep Country mattresses have fiberglass?

Fiberglass fire socks are common in mattresses produced in the United States. There’s no way to know for sure whether Sleep Country mattresses contain fiberglass, so carefully research the mattress brands and models you’re considering. Here are some clues to watch out for:

  • Country of origin. If a mattress is made in the United States or China, there’s a good chance the mattress contains fiberglass.
  • Materials on the law label. Look for the word “fiberglass,” as well as “glass fibers,” “glass wool,” “glass-reinforced plastic,” “glass-fiber reinforced plastic,” or “fiberglass-reinforced plastic.”
  • Pricing. The cheaper the mattress, the more likely it contains a fiberglass fire sock as an inexpensive way to meet national fire regulation policies.

Sleep Country sells mattresses from multiple brands, and different brands often use different manufacturing methods. This includes their fire safety features, which is where fiberglass is most often used.

Some of these brands have been known to use fiberglass. For example, Casper has previously stated that their mattresses contain fiberglass. This statement is no longer on Casper’s website. To be safe, double-check the law label if you purchase a Casper mattress from Sleep Country.

It’s worth noting that Douglas Original—our top pick for Best Mattress Canada—is fully manufactured in Canada and doesn’t contain fiberglass.
